DANNYS POV

As I sit in my seat waiting for Macie to arrive, all I can think about is what it's going to be like when she's gone. I won't have a best friend anymore. I mean, I'll always have Paul, but I don't love him like I love Macie. I was willing to wait as long as she needed until she wanted to get back together, but as the days passed, I felt her slowly but surely moving me into the friend zone.

I look up to see the only girl I've ever fallen completely head over heels for walking into the room. She's absolutely stunning and I can't break my eyes from her until she joins me.

"Holy shit Macie, you look so pretty." I flip my hair and and nervously rub my hands together, not knowing what else to do with all my awkward.

"Thanks babe." She giggles adorably, sitting down. Her attention is momentarily drawn to the front of the room, but I can't draw my attention away from her and the idea of her leaving me.

"So NYU huh?" I smile meekly.

"Ya! I'm so excited! I can't believe I got in!" She nods her head rapidly and leans into me, tying her arms around my torso. I return the hug and hold her close. I love her so much, she'll never even know. I let her go and take a few seconds before speaking again.

"When are you... Uh... Moving?" I stutter. She seems slightly taken aback by my words, which I hadn't expected.

"What?"

"You know, moving to New York?" She stops to think before unsurely replying.

"I'm not sure. I'll have to ask." She mumbles. "It's only April though, we still have plenty of time together." She playfully nudges me with her shoulder, causing my smile to reappear.

"Ya I guess." We stand up to go fetch our lab safety equipment. I grab us both a lab coat and Macie retrieves the goggles. I return to our spot and we exchange items. The class goes by quickly, consisting of us partially working, but mostly goofing off as usual. I get caught up in watching the adorable way that her nose crinkles when she laughs, until she stops and look at me.

"What?" She smiles. She's so pretty it's physically impossible to not love her. Her personality glows straight through her, covering up any flaws that she may think she has. She's so perfect.

"Nothing. I just like you a lot." I half smile and lift up a beaker to drop it's contents into a different container.

"I like you a lot too." She giggles and leans on me for a second.

"Alright! It's time to start cleaning up!" Mr. Benson announces. The entire class arrises and chaotically scrambles to wash and return everything to where it's supposed to be. The bell rings as I grab my bag and wait for Macie.

"I'll text you when I find out the date." She tells me when she reaches our table.

"What date?"

"For New York."

"Oh. Ya, k. Thanks."

"No problem. I'll see you at lunch." She hugs me quickly and walks off to her next class.

MACIES POV

The way Danny was talking to me the entire class felt like he was trying to cover up the fact that he was sad. I can't help but feel like it's my fault that he's upset. I know it's going to be hard for him when I move to New York, heck, it's going to be hard for me too, but I can't pass up an opportunity like this! This is a once in a lifetime offer and I can't say no.

Paul and Teala both congratulate me when I see them. Paul made me promise that if I just so happen to get famous, I have to bring him to parties so he can meet other celebrities. I laughed and agreed that I would allow him to tag along if that ever comes about. The day goes by quickly and I soon find myself sitting in my usual chair in Amy's office.

"NYU!!" She squeals and hits her hand up and down on her desk.

"I know!" I chirp back.

"This is amazing Macie! I just know you're gonna do great!"

"I sure hope so!" I cross my fingers. Out of everyone I've told, Amy seems the most ecstatic about it and I can't not laugh at her excitement.

"One day I'll be able to say, 'I knew you when...'!"

"Now let's not get too ahead of ourselves." I insist sarcastically.

"I expect a shoutout when you win a Grammy by the way."

"Oh my god Amy..." I roll my eyes. We talk about tactics for keeping good grades and doing my best for a while until the subject takes a complete change in direction.

"So how's Danny taking all this?" Amy calms down and crosses her arms.

"He seems kinda upset, but I told him that things would be fine."

"Does he still want to get back together?"

"I'm not really sure. He hasn't brought it up for a while."

DANNYS POV

"I'm not really sure. He hasn't brought it up for a while." I hear Macie say.

Yes, I know it's not okay that I'm eavesdropping outside the guidance councillors office, but I really need to know what's going on with Macie and I. I volunteered to help in the library again today and told the librarian that I needed to use the bathroom, when in reality I just wanted to come listen in for a bit.

"Do you know if he still feels that way about you?" Amy chimes in.

Of course I still feel that way about Macie. Both of us know that.

"I honestly don't know anymore."

Okay, maybe we don't both know that.

"Has he talked about it at all?"

"Not for a couple months no."

"How... What was that?" Amy says as my knees gives out, causing my hand to slap the door. I hear someone getting up and scurry off back to the library before they see me. That was close.

MACIES POV

There's what sounded like a knock on the door and I rise to open it. No ones standing there so I return to my seat and shrug at Amy.

"Anyways, I was going to ask how you felt about him?"

"I mean, I still really like him...
Actually, I guess I still love him, but... I don't know."

"Maybe you should try talking to him. Tell him how you feel, even if you're not ready for a relationship yet."

"Ya. I guess you're right. I'll call him later."

"That's the spirit! Alright, well it's getting late, do you want a ride home?"

"No it's okay, thanks. I brought my penny board." I decline her offer and stand, picking my bag up off the ground.

"Alright, I'll see you tomorrow then. Bye!"

"Bye!" I wave as I open the door to exit. I walk down the hall before a voice sounds from behind me.

"Hey Macie!" Drew speaks. I turn around to see him standing in all his football gear, holding his helmet in his hand.

"Hey Drew!" I wave.

"What're you doing here still?"

"Oh, I was just talking to the guidance councillor."

"Why?" He asks. He shyly steps closer to me so that we're only a few feet apart.

"It's nothing really. I assume you were at football practice." I gesture towards his attire.

"Uh, ya." He laughs. "I just came inside to grab some water, but I should probably head back out."

"Okay. See you tomorrow!" I go to turn around but his hand stops me by grabbing my arm.

"Macie, I... Can I just..." He stutters. As I'm about to ask him what he's trying to say he leans down and quickly pecks my lips.
