Chapter 57

MACIES POV

*Following afternoon*

"Ttyl girl!" I wave as Teala walks out the front door.

"Tell me how the date goes!" She insists, walking backwards down our front path.

"Kk. I'll call you."

"Alright bye!" I wave to her, then close the door. I haven't heard from, or even seen Garret after his explosion last night. I saw Paul go home around midnight but Garret hasn't come out of his room since.

It's almost 3:00 so I still have plenty of time to waste until I have to go meet Drew at that cute little Italian restaurant downtown. I hop in the shower and stand there for a good 20 minutes just thinking.

*Flashback*

"Try this one on too." My mom tells me as she throws a short black and white dress onto the pile I'm holding. When it comes to shopping, mom doesn't joke around.

"There's literally like fifty things here already. I think I'm good."

"Fine. But also try on this pair of shorts." She tosses a pair of high waisted light blue denim shorts on top of the pile. We walk towards the change rooms and I head inside. Mom insists that I show her all the outfits after I put them on so she can help judge. I open the door to show off the first one, consisting of a scarlet red lace crop top and black shorts. She nods her head approvingly and tells me to turn around. "Your ass looks great!"

"Mom!" I can't help but laugh.

"You'll have a boyfriend in no time." She smirks. We've only just recently moved to Maryland and school starts tomorrow.

"Oh my god mom." I sigh and head back into the change room. I try on the rest of the clothes and we both give our opinions, then go pay.

...

*1 month later*

"Macie let's go out for sushi." My mom tells me. Dad and Garret are out doing whatever things fathers and sons do.

"Kk." I stand from the couch where we were just watching Gossip Girl. We head out to the car and start the drive.

"So how're things with you and Danny?"

"Good. He took me to this really cute little coffee shop not too far from here yesterday."

"Aw, that sounds like fun. You really like him don't you?"

"Ya, I guess." I turn to the window so she won't see my blushing.

"Or maybe even... love?" She teases and nudges me with her elbow. "C'mon Macie! We've all see the way you two look at each other."

"Shut up." I giggle.

"You're giggling! You do love him!"

"Oh my god mom." I laugh again.

"I ship it, as you kids say these days." We both break out in laughter and continue on the route to lunch.

*End of flashback*

I turn off the water when I'm done and grab a towel to wrap around myself. I walk into my room and go to my closet, pulling out a sleeveless black dress and strappy heels to go with it. For the time being I change into comfier clothes instead, pulling on sweatpants and a black tee shirt.

Wait.

This is Danny's shirt.

I reach for the bottom hem and almost remove it, but stop myself. It's just a shirt, it's not like it means anything. I leave it on a check my phone while wait for my hair to dry.
