New Zealand stared out the window, his chin resting on the palm of his hand as he let out a frustrated sigh. All there was in front of him and the countries he was riding with was a long road, and to their left and right was nothing but green and brown with a little bit of red, yellow, purple and pink; the trees, bushes, vines, dead plants, and flowers.
They were the only objects he could see standing on the grass as the vehicle he was in swiftly moved past the humongous forest.
The sky was still a terrifying shade of red, and the survivors thought of a day when the sky would once again show its beautiful, clear blue sky.
That day will probably never come.
They soon reached a summer campsite for children which was far enough away from the base they previously were at. It was about 50 miles out, so it took them almost two hours to get there since their vehicles weren't very fast.
Besides, they were out of fuel.
Surrounding them were a few destroyed cabins along with some torn up banners and papers hanging from poles and some of the still standing wooden walls of the cabins.
Up ahead was a dock and a big lake with the pathways leading up to the lake split into two.
"Well..." Prussia held his hands behind his back as he scouted the area.
"This is not a very safe area, since this spot is quite exposed. We can easily be seen if they go out this far to search for us."
New Zealand looked around as he walked up to one of the cabins.
The walls were knocked down, and only bits and pieces of the bottom of the wall remained standing.
The door stood too, with it opening and closing as a light breeze blew onto it.
Cabinets, drawers, desks, chairs, tables, beds, and other items were damaged badly, some were even completely beyond repair.
The silhouettes of many children lay upon the wooden floor and walls, their burnt ashes stuck onto the wood to create their outlines.
"These poor children..." New Zealand mumbled, crouching down beside one of the outlines.
He imagined their final moments as they tried to hide underneath a bed to attempt to escape their demise.
"How could Reich do this? Why the children?" Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth asked, standing next to another silhouette.
"Third Reich is merciless and shows little to no pity for children." UN crossed his arms, shaking his head in disbelief.
"I wish that I could have done something to prevent this from happening."
The organization turned around and walked off, saddened by the horrific sight of the children's ashes.
Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth got back up onto his feet and searched the cabin for any supplies. Sure, the small buildings may have been destroyed, but there might be some things to salvage from inside the cabinets and drawers.
New Zealand walked off and made his way toward the lake, where he stood on the very end of the dock, staring down into the blue water of the deep lake.
He heard footsteps coming up from behind him, not even bothering to move.
He simply continued to stare into the water.
"Is something on your mind, New Zealand?" EU asked the country.
"I...well..." The young countryhuman sighed. "I still can't get my mind off the fact that Third Reich was actually evil. All this time he was being so nice to us, and now that I know the truth, it just..."
