One Day Later

The sun had set early this evening. They still hadn't heard anything, which both relived and terrified Molly. Part of her thought that Tom was okay so they didn't hear anything, but the other part thought that they'd never get an answer about what happened.

Diana spent every waking moment with Lillian. She'd fallen asleep while they were watching Jungle Book, and all Diana could see was her little boy. 

The knock fills the room, coming from the door. Molly quickly jumps up and runs to open it. "Hello?"

"Molly," Officer Avers says, rubbing his hands together.

"Is it Tom?"

"He called us last night using Matthew West's phone."

"Oh thank you," Molly says, putting her face in he hands. "Is he alright?"

"An ambulance is on their way. He said that he needed medical attention. We had to trace the phone, which is wat took so long. I'll notify you when the paramedics have him and you can come to the hospital. But there's... something else."

"What is it?"

Officer Avers sighs and looks down at the concrete. "Mr. West is dead."

"What?" Molly says, mouth dropping.

"He didn't tell us what happened, Tom, I mean, but he said that Mr. West suffered a gunshot to the head."

"Tom."

"Tom's alright."

"No, no... not... that. Not that."

Molly stands there looking at Office Avers, stunned.

"Mrs. Hiddleston?"

"He killed him." Molly whispers. "I need to go inside, if you'd please tell me when I can see my husband I would really appreciate it."

"If that was the case, he wouldn't be in any legal trouble. It was self defense."

"No... that's... that's not it. Thank you, Officer."

He goes to talk more but Molly quickly runs inside and locks the door.

She hopes that Tom remembers doing it because if not, Molly would have to sit him down and explain what he did... which is something he'd never forgive himself for.

Molly wanted to sob in joy, knowing that he was alive, but she couldn't just yet. Last time they found him, he was alive, but there was a low chance of survival. She just hopes that it won't be that way again.

"Diana?" Molly yells, confused on what to feel. "Diana?"

"Yes, Molly?" she replies, quickly walking down the stairs.

"He... he's alive."

"He's alive?"

"Y-yeah. I don't know... anything yet except... he killed Matt."
