Confusion

This chapter goes all over the place. There's a lot to take in. The chapter after next will be decently happy though! This was actually something I read while doing research, which Molly slightly adds to.

"Mummy!" Lily smiles as they walk through the door.

"Hello, my little love. How was school?"

"It was good."

"How was the ride, Tom?" Molly asks her husband.

"Fine." Tom says, setting his keys on the counter.

"Are you sure?"

"Lillian's teacher doesn't understand proper boundaries."

"What do you mean?"

"Alright... I didn't tell you this before I didn't want you to worry."

"Did tell me what?"

"I made myself throw up the other day," Tom says. "But! I had a headache and it went away after I threw up. I'm not having image issues or anything, it was strictly for a medical reason."

Molly sighs into her hands. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because I knew you'd worry about me. It's nothing like before, it was one time."

"You've thrown up one time before... then it turned into months worth of an eating disorder."

"This isn't an eating disorder, not again." Tom says. "I promise you."

"I'm going to keep an eye out on you though."

"I understand. But Lily told her teacher that I threw up and the teacher asked me about Lily's home life."

"Are you serious?"

"Yes. I just want you to know."

"If it happens again, we're going to the Regional Office of Education."

"She was out of line. I just... what if she tells people?"

"You don't know them anyway."

"What if more rumours start? I can't take the attention, Mols, it's too much. I'm already dealing with the Matt thing, I can't do this again."

"You won't have to. Why don't you go upstairs and rest? I'm going to help Lils with her homework. How do you feel?"

"I'm alright," Tom says. "It hurts a little."

"Do you want an aspirin?"

"No, no, I'm fine. I have one more physical therapy session then I'm done. I'm walking much better now."

"I know, I'm glad that you're getting better. I want you to rest though."

"I will, dear. I love you."

"I love you too, hon."

Tom walks upstairs and heads for the bathroom. He looks down at the toilet, but quickly turns his head away from it.

He goes to the mirror and pulls up his t-shirt, seeing a light purple bruise on the top of his left side. He takes in a deep breath, his ribs slightly sticking out with the inhale.

It's not enough

Tom quickly shakes his head, trying to get rid of the feeling. The last few days, Tom's mind was in turmoil. A lot of thoughts plagued him, bringing confusion along. Dr. Olsen told him the first time that this wasn't an uncommon thing to think about in Tom's situation, but it still worried him. He just wanted to know who he was.
