Okay the ending contains a word that might be triggering.
Also, Molly has clearly lost it and I do want to punch her.
Tom lies in bed, staring up at the ceiling.
His bedroom door slightly creaks open and Lily enters the room, squeezing her blanket. "Daddy?"
                              "Yes, love?"
                              "I want snugglies."
                              "Okay, darling, come here."
Lily climbs into the bed and snuggles herself next to Tom.
                              "Are you okay?"
                              "I had a scary dream."
                              "You did? About what?"
"I had a dream that you and Mummy weren't together anymore and then I didn't see you a lot. I was asking Mummy to call you but your phone didn't work or you hung up on me."
"Oh, Lillian, I would never do that to you."
"I know, Daddy. It's still scary.
Are you and Mummy going to get divorced?"
"I... don't know." Tom sighs. "Mummy and I are going through some stuff right now but it has nothing to do with you."
"I know that but I don't want you and Mummy to get divorced."
"Sometimes that happens, Lils. I was in your place, I understand that you're scared but it's okay my love."
Lily holds Tom closer and closes her eyes. "Don't leave me, okay?"
                              "Oh, sweetheart, I won't."
"Good. My friend's mummy and daddy to divorced and now she doesn't see her daddy anymore. he doesn't call her or anything. I don't want you to not like me anymore."
"Lillian, that's impossible. You're my little girl, alright? I love you more than life itself and I could never leave you."
                              "Good. I love you, Daddy."
"I love you, darling. Let's get some more sleep, alright?"
"You were wide awake when I came in here."
"Well I'm very, very, tired and I'd like to fall back asleep. I just have a lot on my mind right now."
                              "Like what?"
"Um... well, someone did something really mean to me and I feel really bad because if it."
"You always tell me to not worry about what mean people do."
"I'd normally agree with you but this was a grown-up mean thing. Grown up mean things can be really dangerous."
                              "Well are you okay?"
"Um, that's not a simple question, darling."
"Why not? I'm asking if you're okay."
                              "I am, thank you."
"Good. Do you want help falling asleep?"
"I don't think you can help me but sure."
"Go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep my daddy, close your eyes, and goodnight, and fall fast asleep." Lily gently sings, stroking her dad's face like her mom did when she sang to her.
                              "Thank you, love."
"Did that help you at all?"
"So much. Go to bed, okay?"
                              "Okay."
Lily closes her eyes and falls fast asleep. Tom, on the other hand, took quite a while.
