Tom walks into the bar on North Ave. It was 9am, so it wasn't very crowded. The bar was open but that was intended for mimosas, not whiskey.
"Good morning." Tom smiles. "I'll take two Jameson on the rocks, please. Oh and make those doubles."
"Sure, sir. But I do have to advise you that because it's before 5:00pm, I cannot serve you more than three drinks of hard liquor. If you'd like to switch to wine or champagne, I'm allowed to continue serving you."
"That's alright. Do the doubles count as one or two?"
"One. You can have three doubles until I can't serve you."
"Then bring them on."
"Would you like to place an order at with the chef? This morning our specialty is eggs benedict and blueberry compote French toast. The blueberries are grown in our garden outback, so is the garlic used in the eggs benedict."
"No, thank you. I don't want anything to eat."
"This is a restaurant, sir. Would you like me to bring a starter? We have fresh buns or a delicious corn chowder if you don't want an entree."
"I said, no thank you. Please bring me my drinks."
"If you were interested in the food, why did you come here?"
"Do you see any other bars open at 9am?" Tom snaps. "I came to drink and I'd like to do it without being disturbed. I've had a very difficult past couple days and I'd rather not share my intentions to the bartender."
"I'm sorry for disturbing you, sir."
"No, no, you didn't disturb me, it's one. I'm the only one in here with a whiskey double at 9am, you've got your questions."
The man pulls out glass whiskey glasses from the counter shielding the bar. "Here you go, let me start a tab, alright."
"Thank you, sir."
"You're welcome."
"Mummy?" Lily asks.
"What, Lils?" Molly responds, placing the plate in front of her daughter.
"Where's Daddy?"
"I don't know."
"You don't know?"
"Um, he's with his friend."
"But it's my time with him."
"I know it is. It's okay, though, we'll have fun. We can go get icecream tonight or watch a movie."
"What about ice cream and a movie?"
"Even better."
Tom's phone starts to ring, it's Molly. He slides up the rest button and goes back to his drink.
"Damn it."
"What's wrong?"
"Eh, my... well I'm not sure what she is anymore."
"Woman problems?"
"Yeah." Tom groans and takes a sip of his drink. "You don't tell someone that you're done with them and then flip out if they're with someone else, it's just not right."
"Maybe she misses you."
"She tried to get back at me by using my trauma against me."
"I'm sorry about that."
"Who does that? You spend all your time with this person for her to just throw it back in your face. I'm sorry, I didn't chose for this to happen to me, it effects me way more than it does you."
