One Week Later
"Molly!" Tom yells, jumping out of bed.
"Tom," Denise says, quickly awakening. She follows Tom to the corner of the room.
"Where's Molly? I... I need Molly."
"Hey, hey, what's going on? Why are you calling for Molly?" Denise kneels down next to Tom, who's leaning against the wall.
"I... had a bad dream." Tom looks around and sees the hurt look ok Denise's face. "I'm going back to sleep."
"Why did you call for Molly?"
"I wasn't really awake, I... I'm used to it. I was with her for years, she dealt with all my nightmares."
"Thomas, the other night-"
"I was with my daughter." Tom snaps.
"In your old house with Molly."
"What are you accusing me of?"
"You've been different. There's something about you that's just different."
"Lily told me something, that's all. It made me think. Nothing happened between me and Molly, are you insane?"
"What do you want me to think? You were asking for Molly after a nightmare."
"It was habit, Denise. For Heaven's sake, I'm not cheating on you with Molly."
"You still love her."
"Denise, what-"
Denise buries her head in her hands. "Thomas, I saw the way you looked at her when we left the other day."
"Goodbye, Molly." Tom smiles, looking into her eyes.
"Goodbye, Thomas." Molly replies. "Um, I'll uh... talk to you later about having Lillian over again. Just for a the evening."
"Alright. I'll see you later. Goodbye."
"Are you insane?" Tom yells. "I was happy, we made up. She's letting me see my daughter."
"Thomas, the way you looked at her-"
"Why are you jealous? What happened? Denise, you... I had one nightmare and now you're thinking that I'm cheating on you."
"What did Lily say about Molly?"
"That's none of your business, darling."
"Thomas-"
"It's not your business. I don't understand this, you woke up a completely different person."
"Tom, I know you still love each other."
"She left me, okay? Well, no, I left her because of a horrible thing she said to me. No matter what feelings are left, I don't ever want to be with her again."
"What feelings are left? So you admit it."
"Admit what?"
"That you still love her." Denise stresses.
"She still loves me, according to Lily. Little old me a very personal thing and I'm not going to share it with you, in full detail at least. I don't have feelings for Molly and I didn't want to be with her again, ever. I want to be with you, I love you."
"I love you too." Denise whispers and smiles. She jumps forward and holds onto Tom. "I was being ridiculous."
"Yeah, you were."
"I'm sorry."
"It's okay, love, it's okay."
"You said you love me."
"I did." Tom chuckles. "It's an awfully strange time though, you know, since you think I'm cheating on you and all."
"I did, not anymore, I'm sorry."
"I know you are. Let's go to bed, alright?"
"Okay."
Denise gets into bed, feeling Tom's arm wrapped around her. She couldn't stop thinking about how he called Molly's name when he woke up from his nightmare, and how they looked at each other.
She wanted to believe that he didn't have feelings for Molly anymore but it was almost impossible to think that it's true.
They start falling asleep, until Denise's phone starts to ring. "Hello?" she quickly asks, Tom sitting up and looking over her shoulder, making sure everything is alright. "No, Mom, it's fine, I was awake, what's wrong?"
Tom watches as Denise's face drops.
"I'm booking a flight for tomorrow morning. No, no, it's okay, it's okay, I'll be there tomorrow."
Denise picks at the skin surrounding here nails as she talks. "I'll ask if he's coming, alright. I love you too, Mom, I'll talk to you tomorrow. Okay, bye."
"Denise? Is everything alright?"
"I need to go Colorado tomorrow." she quietly says. "It's my grandma."
"Oh, darling, I'm so sorry."
"Thank you. My mom said that you can come with if you want, like stay at her house."
"No, no, I'll stay here."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'll watch over the apartment."
"Okay. I need to start packing, let me know if I'm keeping you up. You're sure you'll be fine alone?"
"Denise, I'm not a baby, I'll be fine."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
