Tom knocks on the door, awkwardly standing at the front porch.
"Thomas, you have a key." Molly says.
"It's not my house anymore so it's impolite to barge in."
"It's still your house, Tom."
"We're seperated, Mols, it's not right."
"Just come in and use your key next time or else I won't answer the door. You live here too."
"Then why are we separated if I live here?"
"Because we won't see each other. I've figured it out, what we'll do. Whoever has Lily that day gets the front room. The kitchen is obviously open for anyone. I would like you to pitch in for groceries though. You can give me your list and I'll use your card."
"That's ridiculous, I'll get my own stuff. There's a mini fridge in the guest bedroom for drinks and stuff, I'll stock my groceries in there."
"There's no freezer, what about meat?"
"I'll figure it out."
"You can have our dinner."
"No, Molly, we're not together anymore."
"I need to make sure you're eating. When you get stressed you fall back into dangerous habits."
"Well that's not your concern anymore."
"I'm still your wife."
"No, you're not. For the next 6 months, you're my ex-wife. We don't make decisions together unless it's about Lily, we don't talk, you don't ask me about my health, and we live mostly separate. On days that I have Lily, I'll be here. When I don't, I'll be someone else."
"Where's somewhere else?"
"Not your concern."
"Thomas, we're still married. We just need time to cool off, okay? I need to know where you're staying because of our daughter."
"She won't be there so it doesn't matter. We're not moving her anyway, that's why I'm moving out."
"That makes no sense, Tom."
"It makes perfect sense. On my days with her, I stay in the guest bedroom. She can sleep in her room with her things, nothing to worry about. During the day, I'll take her places, we'll get food, or we'll hang out in the guest bedroom and watch the tele or something."
"I... okay."
"Thank you. Where's my daughter?"
"Our daughter is upstairs."
Tom places his keys on the table and heads upstairs. Lily is sitting on her bed, playing on her iPad. "Lillian?"
"Daddy!" she yells, tossing ht service and running to Tom. She jumps in his arms and hangs onto him. "I missed you."
"I missed you too, love."
"Where were you last night?"
"Um... I was at a friend's.
"You had a sleepover?"
"I did."
"Okay! Are you going it be home now?"
"Well that's what Mummy and I are going to talk to you about. Let's go downstairs."
"Okay."
Tom holds Lily's hand and they start to walk downstairs.
"Hey, baby." Molly smiles. "Sit down, okay?"
"What's going on?" Lily asks. "I'm scared."
"Don't be scared, everything's alright."
