"Are you ready?" Molly asks, placing a hand on Tom's knee.

"I'm not a child, darling." he responds, looking out the car window at the building. "I'll be fine."

"Just making sure."

Tom softly groans into his hands and unbuckles his seatbelt. "Molly?"

"Yeah, hon?"

"What about uh... pain meds?"

"What do you mean?"

"They're going to give me pain meds, right? I don't want to get them."

"No, they'll knock you out."

"What?" Tom snaps. "No."

"Honey, it... it'll hurt really bad if you're not knocked out."

"I'm not doing that."

"Well, you... you have to, Tom." Molly gently says. "Your tooth is... is decayed. It's getting all sorts of bad stuff into your body. You need to get it removed."

"No, not under anesthesia. I'm not doing it."

"Why not?"

"You have to ask me that?"

"Honey, he... he's a doctor. He's not going to hurt you."

"I don't care. No way, this isn't happening. Take me home."

"I'm not taking you home."

"Take me home or I'm going to jump out out of his car and run home. They're not putting me under anesthesia."

"You've had surgeries before and you were under anesthesia, you were just fine."

"I was already unconscious, the anesthesia didn't do much. It's not like I was fine and then they did it, they have me emergency surgeries."

"And you were okay, that's what I'm trying to say." Molly stresses.

"Molly, I'm not doing it. Let me out."

"No."

"Let me out right now."

Molly presses the child lock on the door and Tom looks at her in disgust. "Seriously?"

"You're acting like a child, Tom. I love you dearly but holy hell, you're fine. Please just calm down because we're going to be late."

"I don't care, Molly. I don't want to go."

"Okay, why are you so scared? You've been under it before and you were okay, no one hurt you. Is that what you're scared about?"

"Well it's not like anyone would know if they did anyway." Tom snaps. "There'd be no evidence."

"Yes, there would."

"Not really, Molly, not when I've gotten surgery before, there'd be no way to distinguish who was the cause. There could've been an agreement not say anything and-"

"Do you know insane that sounds? Dr. Bettany didn't come up with some elaborate plan to hurt you, got it?"

"I'm not saying that he did but it's possible that it could happen."

"Can we go or do I need to call them and tell them how ridiculous you're being and that's why we're not coming in today?"

"That's embarrassing, Molly." Tom snaps.

"So is this. Please stop and let's just go."

"Fine."

"Fine? You're not going to run away like a child?"
