Summary: Kadence has been receiving death threats for months and up until now she hadn't told anyone about them. Actually she hadn't planned on telling anyone ever, but Tom Hiddleston, her concerned boyfriend can't stand to see anyone hurt the woman he loves.
----------------------------
Kadence made her way into the kitchen, entering through the open back door from the beautiful garden, where she left her boyfriend Tom Hiddleston and his Mum Diana relaxing in their chairs whilst she prepared them some tea. As she grabbed the kettle to fill she noticed a pile of mail placed on the kitchen countertop. She gathered Diana must have put them there as neither herself or Tom would have placed them mail there, because she always had a place for them on her desk in her office, or what was her office. Momentarily she abandons the kettle and shuffles through the mail and she hopes it to be the last before she officially moves into Tom's place. Although everyone who's important should already have her change of address.
As it turns out most of the mail appeared to be junk, at least until she reached the end of the pile, as there in her hands was a dreadfully familiar red envelope. Her name written in the familiar black scrawled handwriting on the front. Hesitantly she decided to open it despite the horrible feeling deep inside her telling her to just burn it right away. Albeit as she read the letter it began to fill her head with the vile words, causing her such heartache, and tears threatened to escape. Luckily she just about managed to not cry after finishing the letter. With shaky hands she put the letter back into the envelope and then threw all of the mail away in attempts to banish the thoughts away with it.
Once Kadence regained her composure she finally began making the tea. As she was filling the kettle Tom snuck in behind her. She was none the wiser until she felt his arms wrap around her waist. At first he made her jump, even causing some of the water to spill out of the kettle into the snick, but the sound of him chuckling and the kiss he placed to her temple put her at ease.
"Is there any bikkies left?!" He asks excitedly.
"Of course, you don't even have to ask!" She giggled as he kissed her cheek this time and disentangled himself from her.
Tom went to fetch the biscuits out of the soon to be ex snack cupboard, but a red envelope in the bin caught his eye first, and he picked it up just as Kadence put the kettle on. Before he flips the envelope over he glances over at her, yet she's far too busy sorting out their teas to notice. Without further hesitation he flips the red envelope with her name scribbled on the front over, allowing his curiosity to be quenched with the answers that lay within. After he took out the paper and unfolded it, he began to read every word carefully. His brows instantly knit together and concern floods across his features, because the words are personal but dripping with hatred and hurtfulness too. His heart seemed to drop as he read until the end and his eyes didn't want to believe a single word. How could anyone say such spiteful and colourful words about the woman he loved?
"What's this?" Tom asks, the kettle comes to a boil as he turns to her with a stern expression plastered across his beautiful face.
Kadence sighs heavily and says, "nothing," dismissively.
"No! This is not nothing, darling. Do you know who's sending this to you?!" His voice serious as his expression, but not yet shouting, only empathising the seriousness of the situation.
"I might..." she shrugs.
"Well?!" He asks harshly, folding his arms across his chest because he wasn't going to give up easily, and in the process of folding his arms the letter crumps up whilst it's still in his grasp.
"The tea is getting cold!" Kadence said, trying to distract him from the letter.
"Don't change the subject Kadence!" Tom's voice finally raises and makes her flinch again. In fact more than just a flitch, as she then circles her arms around herself like a protective blanket, and her eyes begin to brim with silent tears, coupled with a sniff to try and hold them back. He's never raised his voice to her before, sure they've had disagreements, but they've never argued before. Although seeing her like this makes him think there's more to this than what meets the eye, especially as she is usually such a brave and confident woman. He sighs, letting his anger go and rubs the back of his neck sheepishly. "I'm sorry...I'm so sorry love, I-you can't keep this away from me. Please tell me. I need to know who is responsible for saying such dreadful things." He says more softly, as he then cautiously approaches her, and when he's sure she won't step back he rubs his hands up and down her arms.
"My...D-Dad. He sent me the letter...he's been doing it for months now, sending me letters similar to this one." She replied quietly then she couldn't help but look down at her feet after confessing the truth. Albeit she doesn't get to look at them for long as Tom hooks two of his fingers under her chin to get her to look up at him. His worry brow raises and his kindest eyes staring into hers.
"You never said he was so cruel...I know you said you never got along, but this? Why haven't you mentioned this before?" He replies and does his best to keep it together for her sake.
"Because...because Tom, it's not exactly a topic I'm comfortable talking about." She swallows hard with the silent tears wanting to break free.
"Yeah, I understand completely, love. Except you need to tell me everything, because I don't want you to feel as though you have to deal with this alone. You know I am here for you, right?" She nods as she wraps her arms around his waist and her head rests against his chest. "Good, because I'm not going anywhere...I don't want you to get hurt, you're too precious to me and I could never forgive myself if I let anyone hurt you." He says as he bends down to rest his chin on top of her head and envelopes her into a warm embrace. His embrace is so comforting to her that she can't hold back her tears any longer and her fists grab tightly on the back of his shirt.
"What's keeping you dears?!" Diana suddenly makes an appearance, but she pauses in the doorway upon hearing Kadence crying.
"It's alright, Mum, I promise." Tom replies with a half smile as he begins to rock Kadence gently side to side.
From now on Tom wanted to make sure she didn't feel alone in the world. He wanted to make her feel beautiful and wanted, as well as making sure she knew she wasn't anything less than a wonderful person. Which was putting it lightly compared to what her Dad described her to be like in the letter, because seeing her like this caused him heartache. She's his world...his everything and he had to protect his world, he had to protect her, the love of his life.
