Bun in the oven

Summary: Harper surprises her boyfriend Tom with a pregnancy reveal when he comes home from being away filming reshoots in Louisiana for I saw the light. The news is revealed by a literal bun he finds in the oven instead of dinner.

Tom instantly has a smile on his face as soon as he spotted his girlfriend Harper among the crowds at the airport. She too smiled just as wide as he when she saw him getting off the plane. Although it didn't take long for him to rush towards her, picking her up into the air and spun her around a couple of times, both of them laughing and uncaring what anyone might think. After all this was the first time in weeks since they'd seen each other, due to him being away filming some reshoots in Louisiana on his current film I saw the light.

"I've missed you!" Tom says giddily, as he sets Harper back down onto her feet and holds her tightly in his arms, kissing the top of her head.

"I've missed you too!" Harper says almost like she can't believe she's being held in his arms again.

They stand in the middle of the airport just holding each other for a while until Tom spots the paparazzi. Then he is quick to take her hand to keep her safe beside him. He's always been very protective over loved ones and he was determined to get out of the airport with Harper in one piece. As they walk through the airport they are being harassed by the paparazzi, of course Tom is as polite as he always is to them and everyone, yet he also wanted them to be left alone. However they were constantly being followed around by the paparazzi during the very busy hustle and bustle of the airport. Despite being followed around they got Tom's suitcase from baggage claim as quickly as they could and then they tried to push their way out as fast as possible.

Luckily they got out of the airport safely even though the paparazzi didn't leave them alone the entire time. Albeit after driving home they could fully relax.

"I made dinner before I met you at the airport." Harper says as they walk in through the front door.

"It smells delicious, darling." Tom said once he inhaled the smell of their food on his way in.

"Would you mind getting it out of the oven? I left it there to keep warm after I turned it off on my way out." She says as she takes her jacket off.

"Course, darling." He replies, leaving his suitcase by the door and kisses her cheek as he passes to head towards the kitchen.

Tom talked straight over to the oven once he headed into the kitchen. He put some gloves on before opening the oven. Although he found it to be oddly cold considering Harper had told him she had made dinner not long before leaving the house. Also all he found in the oven was a bun on a plate. He still took it out of the oven and placed it down on the counter top. He processed to take the oven gloves off as he stared at the bun on the plate. He was confused to say the least. He could still smell the delicious food despite only finding the bun, which wasn't the smell of the stew he could clearly smell in the air. The longer he stared at the bun he noticed something poking out of it, so he rested on his forearms as he lent over the counter top, opening the bun.

His eyes begin to blink in disbelief for a moment, until his heart tells them to believe, which then causes him to pick up the baby scan that had been sandwiched between the bun. He holds it up closer so he can take it all in and he starts to cry happy tears. Dinner was the furthest thing from his mind now.

"Happy Father's Day!" Harper says suddenly from behind him, making him jump slightly as he never heard her approaching him. He quickly recovers though as he turns around to face her.

"We-we're having a baby?!" Tom asks teary eyed with a smile on his lips.

"We're having a baby!" She replies excitedly.

They both began to cry happy tears as they held each other and kissed tenderly. Tom still couldn't quite believe it. He was finally starting his own very much long awaited family with the love of his life. Harper was just as joyous about the pregnancy as he is, as they'd both had mentioned wanting children from the day they met. Now seemingly they were getting their wish.
