Y/n's POV:

In the next few days, I never see Doug. I try to ignore it, because I'm here for my mom. I don't want to spend most of my time worrying about him, but still, I do.

The next day after I snuck out, I sent the video to Tony through my new laptop my mom bought me for Christmas. He told me to stay off my phone because Doug could be tracking me, which means barely talking to Peter. God I miss him.

I told Tony how my mom doesn't believe me about this whole situation, and he told me it's safer if she stays out of this anyway.

"If Doug never comes in contact with you again during your vacation, then don't worry about chasing him. Once you come back then we can work this out. If he does end up doing something to harm you, tell me immediately and we will be there in two minutes. Whatever you do, DO NOT go back out and try to do this by yourself. It won't work if you're on your own." I read his email under my breath to myself. I've given him updates about Doug. I've followed orders and haven't gone out in my suit since then, no matter how much I want to.

Throughout the next few days after he sent the email, I hung out with my mom way too much. Sure I missed her, but I was so distracted I couldn't focus on most things she said. Still, I tried my best to listen to her and be a good kid for her.

I talked to Rachel and we ended up deciding to get dinner a couple days before I leave back to New York. I feel guilty, but I already miss the tower and Peter especially. God am I clingy? How do I miss him so much when I've only been gone a week?

For dinner, I wear baggy jeans, sneakers, and a white shirt underneath a long jacket. I fix my hair and I'm halfway out the door when my laptop chimes. I go back to my desk and open up my computer. Someone emailed me, but I don't know the address. They had sent me an attachment and a heart emoji. I click on the attachment. A video loads and I see Peters face.

"Um. H-hi Y/n uh, I don't know if this is your email address but I saw it on Mr. Starks computer so I typed it in and, god I hope this is you. I miss you so much." He says nervously. I grin and he sets the camera down on his nightstand. He crosses his legs underneath himself on his bed and runs a hand through his hair. His shirt rides up and I see his abs. I can tell he's nervous, but he's still hot.

"I hope you listened to Mr. Stark and didn't go back out in your suit. I don't think you aren't ready it's just that I want you to be safe and, I'm rambling again aren't I? I'm sorry." I almost answer when I remember this is just a video. Because I'm not able to be there to stop him from his nervous chitchat, he can go on and on for a while until he realizes he's doing it. I think it's adorable, but he thinks it's embarrassing.

"Well, jeez what is this video?" He laughs to himself and then puts his chin in his hand.
"Anyway. I miss you baby. I hope you're having a good time and I can't wait to see you again. Please be careful whatever you do." He picks up his phone and puts it a bit too close to his face. He gives me this nerdy grin and waves at me before stopping the recording. I have an uncontrollable smile on my face and I write back a small message to him, basically saying how much I miss him and what's been happening.

I tell my mom where I'm going and she confirms my suit is in my room before I leave. She's always been overprotective of me, so this is no surprise that she won't let me take my suit. Although, she didn't see the webslingers in my bag as I left the house.

We go to a crowded In-N-out and sit down in front of the window. We end up talking about school, and I can tell her most things about it without giving away too much. She doesn't question me anymore about random things because she's respecting my boundaries. Because of that, I'm able to act normal again with her.

That is until I get my Peter Tingle again.

I look around the room for the cause of it, but it doesn't increase at all in the room. I look out the window, and see a man in his car, looking right at me. Doug.

"Do you know him?" Rachel asks. I don't answer. I grab into my bag to get my emergency phone that Tony bought me. But when I get back up, he's gone. I grip the table and clench my jaw. So it's true. He isn't trying to hurt my mom, he's trying to take me. By any means necessary.

I tried to contact Tony before going but it didn't work. I should've just ran after Doug and worried about the consequences later.

I tell Rachel that I have to leave and gather my things.
"Is something wrong?" She asks. Well, theres a guy trying to kill me and he's stalking where I am but no biggie!
"Everything's fine I'm just tired and I need to spend time with-"
"With your mom yeah I know. Is this the last time I'll see you though?" She asks sadly. And I realize it probably will be.

I take an envelope out of my bag, which has a letter I wrote earlier, stating everything that I wasn't able to tell her. As I hug her, I stuff it into her pocket, hoping that she still trusts me enough to not tell anyone.
"I trust you." I whisper to her. She grips my back tighter and when I pull away she has tears in her eyes.
"Please keep in touch." She tells me and I nod.
"Of course I will Rach. I love you." She kisses me on the cheek and hugs me once more.

On the way back to my house, I think about how different I was before all this. Right now, I'm lying to practically everyone I come in contact to, and I'm sneaking out behind my mothers back. On top of that, I'm plotting how to kill a man, and I've already killed one of my peers. Before my dad died, I was always getting to bed on time, never telling a lie, and I never even thought about sneaking out, much less killing someone.

It's crazy how much life can change after I shove one kid into a wall.

Doug doesn't come back to the house, but I still stay up and listen, as if he'll come crawling out of the shadows or something. I rewrap my bandage on my arm and try to relax by reading a book. My mom and I watch a movie together but I'm still on edge.

"Honey are you alright?" She asks. I nod and take a sip of my hot chocolate.
"I'm fine." I answer shortly.
"No you're not. Look I know I'm not as good at this as your dad was, but you can tell me anything." I shake my head and set my mug down.
"Mom you have to listen to me. Doug is a terrible person. I think he's trying to hurt me." I say and she becomes grim.
"Y/n, I think you've been spending too much time with the Avengers. They've put all of that crazy superhero stuff into your head. Please just stop." I sit up and turn off the TV.

"Well if you aren't going to listen to me then I'm going to bed. I have a flight to catch tomorrow anyway." I begin to walk out when she stops me.

"No don't walk away from me. Why do you think Doug is going to hurt you?" I clench my fists. Isn't that obvious?
"When I snuck out, I went to where he was at and he was talking about kidnapping me. He was saying all of this nonsense about serums and guns and Avengers. Then earlier, he was watching me in the restaurant when I was with Rachel." When I'm talking, she's continuously shaking her head.

"No it must be a coincidence." She says and I almost laugh.
"I promise you it's not, mom. He's going to hurt me. I don't know when but I just know." Then I can visibly see her snap.
"Dammit Y/n why can't you just be happy for me? I'm finally happy why can't you see that?" I feel a pang of guilt.
"That's not what I mean mom. I want you to be happy." She runs a hand through her hair.

"Well then you need to mind your business and stop being paranoid. I don't want to fight on the last night that you're here. I think we're both tired and need to go to bed." She kisses me on the head and goes to her room.

Maybe she's right. Maybe I should just mind my business and not get into this any more.

Of course that's not what I actually do. But at least I considered it right?
