ALRIGHT LADIES FIX YOUR TITS AND TAKE SOME DEEP BREATHS BECAUSE YOURE IN FOR A BIG ONE
I suggest listening to songs that make you feel in love for this and good luck lol <3
Y/n's POV:
Here we go.
I stand in front of the mirror. The butterflies in my stomach have flown up to my throat and I can hardly breathe. I look amazing.
I worked out this morning and tried to keep my mind occupied. I could barely sit down all day. Not only is this the first dance I've been to, this is also the night that I'm going to talk to Peter. And shit I'm so nervous.
Wanda, and Nat helped me get ready, making me feel like I am their daughter. Thor watched, and attempted to help, the entire time. Which has led me to look like this. The purple shade compliments my skin, and my hair falls in soft curls down my shoulders. I feel like a little girl playing dress-up with her moms clothes.
Wanda even tears up a little when I show her the final product.
"You look bonito my dear." She says, and I can't stop grinning. Nat rubs my back and I couldn't feel more like my place is right here. On my way out I grab my webslingers, because for some reason I feel the need to have them just in case.
A few of the Avengers are in the living room and they stand when I walk in.
"Damn Y/n looking good!" Sam gives me a high five and I smile.
"I'm at your service my liege." Shuri says and bows in front of me. I laugh and she gives me a hug.
"You nervous?" She whispers.
"Incredibly."
"Don't be." She moves back and grins.
"You're great help. Thank you." I say sarcastically.
"Alright Frizzle your mom wants a picture." I stand awkwardly as Pepper takes a picture of me. I feel the urge to tell them how grateful I am for each and every one of them, but I don't just yet because I get the feeling that Peter is here.
I excuse myself and follow the feeling down the elevator and to the grand staircase that leads to the entrance. And there he is.
He has his back to me and is adjusting his suit jacket. He turns as I make my way down the stairs.
Both POVS:
Oh my god. They look beautiful.
Y/n's POV:
He has on a classic black and white tux and his hair has been left in floppy curls around his face. My heart is going to bust.
There's a moment at the bottom of the stairs where we stand and just stare at each other. An uncontrollable grin makes his lips curl up and his cheeks flush.
"Wow." He says breathlessly. I blush and chuckle.
"You too. Come here your tie's a little crooked." I walk up close to him and fix his tie to be straight. His eyes don't leave my face.
I move my hands down his shoulders and biceps and his breath hitches. He smells sweet and his brown eyes trace my features. His arms slowly move around my waist.
Suddenly fragments of our past flash in my mind. Our binge watching movies, the seemingly endless nights waiting until I was in his arms again. The way it felt to kiss him after he was on a mission. The way it felt seeing him get shot. I can't lose him again, not like this. Not to Kylie Stevenson.
"There you are. Let me get a picture of you and Peter to send to your mom." I turn around and see Pepper with her camera out. I look back at Peter and he puts his arm around my waist. I'm taken aback by his confidence, but I smile at the camera just like he does and as soon as she puts her phone down he lets go.
Imagine what it would be like if our circumstances were different. He wouldn't let go of my waist. The pink corsage he's holding would be to give to me. I wouldn't be leaving the tower to meet with Bryce and he wouldn't be meeting with Kylie.
I've waited and overthought this long enough. All or nothing. And I want it all.
Peters POV:
I don't know what I was thinking when I asked Kylie to the formal. She's pretty and her dress is beautiful, but she isn't Y/n. I'm not in love with Kylie.
That is made clear when we get into her dads car and she's on her phone the entire ride there. I'm trying my best to engage in conversation but she won't bite. More and more I'm regretting everything that led up to this point.
That moment with Y/n in the lobby has made me want her even more. Surely she saw the video right? I've been hopelessly trying to put clues and hints of my feelings down for her, for they've only gotten stronger as time has gone on.
We pull up to the building and I get a strange feeling. Maybe it's just anxiety? I push it away and focus on what I'm going to say to Y/n.
Y/n's POV:
The drive here was awkward, because we both know that we don't want to be with one another. I want to say I have remorse, but I don't. Still, I felt the need to say something on the drive here, but most of it was left in silence.
But now that we're here I forget about those worries. The formal is held at this beautiful event center and it's starts to snow as I get out of the car. We rush inside and the place is already crowded with people.
Bryce and I go to the dance floor and he immediately goes to his friends. I don't try to chase after him. Instead, I go straight to MJ and dance with her.
After a several songs and still no sign of Peter, a slow song begins to play. MJ begins to dance with some guy she met in art class and I go to the bathroom.
I'm fixing my makeup when I see someone in the stall, only they're not alone. I start to hear moaning sounds and I pretend to gag.
"Hey would you take it down a few please?" I shout and I get giggles in response.
"Sorry." Says Bryce. Bryce? Holy shit!
They walk out sheepishly and when Bryce sees me he turns red. I take off the corsage and throw it at his face. His blue tie he didn't want to take off. Kylie's blue dress. The blue fucking corsage. Touché Bryce. You're not as stupid as I thought you were.
"Bryce I don't care why you're with her. We're done. And Kylie? If Peter is hurt by this then I will ruin your entire reputation."
I flip him off as I leave the bathroom and run into Peter.
"Hey. Have you seen Kylie?" He asks, but his eyes tell me he already knows the answer.
"Yeah. She's with Bryce and they're both just" I imitate their moans and Peters eyes widen.
"Y/n stop someone's gonna hear you." He says through laughs. I shrug and hesitate before taking his hand.
"Wanna dance?" It's not just a simple question. There's a lot riding on this dance. What if he says the video was a mistake and that I wasn't supposed to see it? What if he doesn't actually love me? Have I been reading the signs wrong this whole time?
"Yes I do." He says. Something hangs heavily in the air around us that makes me feel like I can't breathe and that I want to kiss him at the same time.
He leads me to the dance floor and he stands in front of me.
"You're gonna have to lead me through this. I've never really danced with anyone before." He says bashfully and I smile. I take his hands and put them around my waist, moving my own around his neck. He pulls me close and I swallow thickly.
"Like this?" He says in a low voice.
"Just like this." We sway along to the music and I rest my head against his chest. He rests his chin on the top of my head and for a moment I get the feeling that this moment is perfect. But still, he has to know how I feel. Shit Y/n just spit it out. Now or never.
I back away so I can look him in the eye.
"Peter?"
"Yes Y/n?" I take a deep breath and try to control my increasing heart rate.
"I saw your video. The night I stayed at your house, Aunt May gave me your anniversary gift." His eyes bore into mine.
"And what do you think?" He asks slowly. He's as nervous as I am. I move in closer so our noses are almost touching
"I think that I'm-"
Suddenly I get a sharp pain in my chest and my eyes move to the second floor. A man stands holding a gun. And I know exactly who it is. The man who is mainly responsible for Peter and I breaking up. The only man who escaped that day at the police station.
Austin. What the hell is he doing here?
