Y/n's POV:

Once we land at the tower Peter goes to Bruce's floor. I go into the elevator with Nat.
"Are you alright?" She asks. I look down and evaluate myself.
"Only a few cuts. I'll be fine." I say. My voice is hoarse from the smoke but my head is clear.
"No I mean, about you and Spider-Man."  My stomach drops and I bite my cheek.
"I know you broke up a while ago, but something's happening. C'mon you can tell me." She nudges me and I shake my head.

"It's nothing, really. It can't be anything. Tony won't let us and the last time we were together he-"
"Almost died. You've told me. I'm not one for speeches, especially for things like this, but you've got to be a little selfish. At some point, if it hasn't happened already, there will be a separation between your life here and your life out there. You have to decide what is most important to you, and go for it. And if Peter is that important, then it'll work out somehow." She says and grips my shoulder. The elevator stops at her floor and she gets off.

I have to let that sink in. She's right of course. But, I got myself into this. I killed Kail, and I'm dealing with that as I'll have to for the rest of my life. I could've gone to jail, but I didn't. Tony saved me from that. If I have to follow his rules then so be it.

But, Peter is that important to me.

It's dark outside of my window and I light a candle in my room. I change out of my suit and put my hair up. I wash my face and brush my teeth and I'm about to go to bed when I see Peter walk by.
You've got to decide what's most important to you, and go for it.

"Peter?" He stops and turns around. He's changed into pajama pants and his thick black glasses. He has a brace on his ankle and is looking at me expectantly. It's then I realize I don't know what I'm doing.

"Uh. What did Bruce say about your leg?" I ask and lean against my doorframe.
"I severely sprained my ankle but that's about it. Thank god for spider venom." He says humorlessly. Still, I chuckle but stop when I see blood on his neck.

I walk up to him and he freezes. My finger moves up his neck and I show him the blood.
"Are you hurt?" He shrugs. I roll my eyes.
"God you're helpless. Come on." I start walking to my room and he hesitates.
"I don't bite." I say softly. He takes a breath before coming in behind me.

I motion for him to sit on my bed and I grab the first aid kit out of the bathroom.
"Take off your shirt." He looks at me and blinks.
"Do you want to bleed to death?"
"I don't think I would be able to bleed to death from that small of a cut-" I stop him.
"Just take off your shirt so I can clean it. It's the least I can do after you saved my ass today." He nods and slowly takes off his shirt. I allow my eyes to roam down his abs but I stop quickly. I won't let myself do that. Not yet.

I sit next to him and move his shoulders so he has turned his back to me. He was right, the cut is not that big, but it still needs to be cleaned. I take a cleaning pad out and begin to dab at the cut. He sucks in air through his teeth and his hand moves to grip something out of pain. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, that something is my thigh.

My face turns a bright red and I get butterflies in my stomach. As soon as he realizes what he did, he moves his hand.
"I'm sorry." I laugh nervously and shake my head.
"I thought you had, like, a superior high pain tolerance?" I say as I put gauze on the wound.
"Sometimes." He mumbles. My phone chimes next to me and I see that Bryce texted me. I sigh and turn off my phone. Peter must've known who it was.

"How do you think Bryce would feel if he saw you doing this?" He asks, and I'm glad I can't look him in the eye.
"I don't really care what he thinks. Do you?" He turns to look me in the eye. He seems frustrated.
"I have to tell you something." His voice is low and quiet. I have the urge to move in closer to him, to have him stop talking and just kiss me. But he moves back from me and runs a hand through his hair.

"I was about to leave the tower this morning when I got a call. I didn't know the number, but I answered it. Somehow, Bryce had gotten my number. He told me to stay away from you, saying that he was better and could take care of you. He said if he saw me with you again, then he wouldn't let me forget it." He makes a fist motion and clenches his jaw. I close my eyes and groan.

"God Peter I'm so sorry. He's such a dick. I don't know what I ever saw in him." He looks down at the ground.
"If he knew about me, about the Stark Internship," he doesn't finish his sentence, but I understand. It must be hard to not kick those guys in the ass.

"That's why I was so angry today. And I took it out on you which was extremely unfair. I'm sorry." He takes my hand and I don't pull away. Instead, I put my head on his shoulder and sigh.
"We've been apologizing a lot recently." I say and he laughs hoarsely.
"How did we end up like this?" He asks and I laugh with him.

We were pulled apart so hard, that we somehow ended back together. Maybe not entirely like how we were before, but in any way Tony's command didn't work. Because here I am, his hand holding mine and my head resting against his shoulder once again.

We're like that for a moment before he squeezes my hand and I move my head up to look at him.

"I've been thinking, and if friends is how I get to have you, then so be it."

But as he says it, he doesn't look me in the eyes. He's staring at my lips. Something aches in the pit of my stomach.

Really Parker? Even after everything, you still wanna do this?

Then let the games begin.
