Y/n's POV:
When I was in school with Rachel, I remember how much boys would fall to her feet. She had a boyfriend who she would obsess over. I would tell her that there's a whole other world besides that boy. I wasn't jealous, I just needed a sane friend to rely on.
I'm reminded of my own advice when Nat comes barging into the bathroom. I poke my head out of the shower.
"What-"
"We're having a meeting. Get dressed it's important." I groan but she doesn't wait for a response.
I quickly put on sweatpants and a tshirt before walking down to the meeting room.
"You needed me?" I ask Tony, still drying my hair with a towel. Steve, Nat, and Clint sit at the table. At the far end is Peter. I'm suddenly very aware of how I look. Probably like a wet rat.
I blush and sit down at the opposite end of Peter. Tony and Steve are talking for a moment before they face us.
"We have a mission. This shouldn't be a large one so we will be taking both the children along." I scoff and run a hand through my wet hair.
"We don't have a lot of time. I want to get this done and be back in time for dinner tonight so grab your suit and let's go. I'll explain it on the jet." He says to me. I realize the others already have their uniforms on.
"Ok fine give me like five minutes." I rush back to my room and mumble curses at Tony. Why do I have to do this now? I feel miserable and I don't want to spend the day with Peter. Especially after he friend-zoned me so hard I can't even look at him anymore.
I grab my suit and tuck it under my arm. I put on my sunglasses and head to the jet. Peter is leaning against the ramp of the huge plane and has his mask in his hand. He's biting his lip anxiously and he stops when he sees me. He always tries to hide his anxiety in front of me. No matter how much I hate the piteous feeling for him, I can't deny it's prominence even after all that's happened.
"You nervous?" I ask and hang my suit over my shoulder. He shrugs.
"A little yeah." I look out at the city and sigh.
"Well I'm doing this shit while being insanely hungover so you have nothing to worry about compared to my situation." He makes an odd face at me.
"Last time I checked you are the only one to blame for that." My mouth almost drops at his attitude. How has his feelings changed so drastically from last night? I cover it up quickly.
"I'm not entirely to blame. Bryce was also a part of this." The muscle in his jaw twitches and he turns toward me.
"That's a stupid move for him. Seeing that he is your boyfriend and all." He murmurs. He isn't even trying to hide his jealousy anymore.
"Maybe you should do something about it then." The bitterness in my tone slips out and I immediately want to take it back. Peter doesn't deserve this bitchy part of me. He moves closer to me. My body tenses.
"I might just have to. Then you can see how much of a-" he's interrupted before he can say it.
"C'mon. You can make out on the plane." Nat calls out. Our faces both turn a bright red and I practically sprint up the ramp.
Maybe I am being petty, but I don't know how else to feel. There's too many layers to this shit, and the easiest thing for me to be is jealous and angry.
The jet takes off and I put my suit on. Tony explains that there's a super soldier who has been taking over towns in Mexico. Our job is to stop him but me and Peter's job is to watch and help if absolutely necessary. I take a nap on the way there to avoid Peters eyes. He seems anxious and mad about something, but I don't know what. I don't have enough time to think about it because we land in Mexico in little to no time.
The plane lands and I'm stopped in my tracks by the sight before me. There's three buildings in flames and the one closest to us is beginning to crumble. People are screaming and I'm so disoriented I can't hear what Tony said.
"Frizzle are you drunk?" I look at him wide eyed and he sighs.
"No no no I'm not drunk. This is just the first time I've seen this." Nat pats me on the back and draw in a shaky breath.
