Y/n's POV:

Heart broken- suffering from overwhelming distress; inconsolable

The sound of AC/DC wakes me up. No matter what time in the day, Tony is always blasting music throughout the tower. I usually don't mind it, but everything pisses me off lately.

I get dressed in jeans and a t-shirt, not caring how I look. I'm not trying to prove anything. There's no reason for me to try. I greet Nat and get a granola bar for breakfast. I try to act normal. After my dads funeral, I didn't want the attention on me anymore. It felt like too much. So I acted like I'd moved on. That I knew he was in a better place. I put a smile on my face for everyone, even if they deserved it or not.

All the Avengers know what happened. Of course they don't really care, which in a way I like more. I'm glad they can distract me and pretend like it's normal. That's what I'm best at.

I'm not really angry anymore. There's no reason for me to be. Every time I start to get mad I just think about how this is no ones fault but mine. And then all I feel is guilt.

The bell rings and I go to my first class. I sit with MJ, who has already heard about the whole thing by now. It's been several days since the alley way night.
"You ok?" She whispers. I shake my head no but I smile softly. She shrugs her shoulders, saying this is how life is. And I can't think of any more to say. With MJ, I don't ever have to talk. We can sit in silence and I don't feel awkward.

When the bell rings, the familiar pain of anxiety in my stomach sets me off. I breathe in and follow MJ into the hall. I really don't want to face Peter. I haven't talked to him since the night in the alley and I wouldn't know what to say to him.

I almost run to my locker and don't see Peter on the way there. I switch my books and fix my hair in the mirror on the door of my locker. When I shut my door I see Ned a few doors down. I take a breath and walk towards him.

"Hey Ned. Have you seen Peter?" I ask, trying not to sound eager. He meets my eye and shrugs.
"I thought you would know." He says as he puts his bag on. I bite the inside of my cheek and look away.
"No. We haven't really been talking recently." He gives me a sympathetic glance and pats me awkwardly on the back before walking to class. Peter must've told him what happened. How many more people know?

The next classes go by and then it's time for lunch. Usually, the only people at my table are me, Peter, Ned, and MJ. Peter and Ned are there but I don't see MJ. Peter is wearing a sweatshirt. The one I gave back to him, along with pictures of us that I couldn't bear to look at anymore. I can't do this.

I walk to the bathroom stall and lock the door behind me. I open my phone and see that MJ texted me.
Sorry I left. Need a mental break.

"Shit." I curse to myself and close my eyes. It's sad that MJ is one of my only friends. Besides her, it's only Peter.

I suddenly hear a sound in the stall next to me. There's a sigh and then the sound of jangling keys. I hear scratching against the wall and a voice humming an unrecognizable tune.

"Hello?" I ask. What's the worse that could happen?
"Either go away or come on in." I furrow my eyebrows and open my stall.
"What do you mean come on in?" I stand in front of the stall and the scratching stops. She kicks the door open and I move out of the way so it doesn't hit me.
"I mean come on in." She repeats, a smile tugging at her lips.

The girl has short dark hair that curls towards her face at the ends. She's wearing a dark red jacket that hugs her torso with silver necklaces around her neck. Her brown eyes meet mine and she looks me up and down. The way she stands makes it seem like she should be out with the popular girls instead of in here.

"What are you doing?" I ask shifting the subject, suddenly insecure of what I'm wearing.  She's chipping the paint away with her keys, making some sort of symbol.
"The same thing you're doing. Hiding from my problems and those fake bitches out there." She stabs the wall with her key so hard I think she's going to dent the wall.
"That's not what I'm doing." I say defensively.
"He's not a problem." I let my thought slip out before I can stop it.

"He"
"What?" Every word she says seems like a riddle.
"Boys are always a problem. No matter what age." She mumbles the last part to herself but it makes me smile.
"I'm Avery Scott." She says as she puts the keys into her pocket.
"Cool. I'm Y/n." I put out my hand and she looks at me funny.

"This isn't a business meeting." She says and chuckles.
"Oh really? Then why are you dressed like it is?" I motion to her blazer-type of jacket and she smiles. Her purple nails shine as she shakes my hand.
"Touché Y/n."
I knew we were gonna be friends since the first time I met her.
