IM SUCH AN IDIOT I COMPLETELY FORGOT TO TELL YOU GUYS WHEN THIS IS SET RRRRRR
This book is set in a different timeline where Thanos didn't really exist bc there's already too much trauma in this book and I love all the characters so much ahh imma start crying okay enjoy!
Y/n's POV:
New York is gorgeous. We land on top of a huge tower with the Avengers logo on it. I'm still groggy from my nap, and I don't want to meet anyone with a sweater that has blood from the person I killed on it. I tell Tony that and he agrees.
"Don't worry kid. You won't be meeting anyone yet unless we run into Thor getting his midnight snack. We can introduce you to everyone in the morning." I laugh in awe that I will be surrounded by gods for breakfast tomorrow. But then I remember why I'm here and stop laughing.
He shows me my room and turns on the lights. It's a big room with a queen sized bed in the corner. There's a TV on one of the walls and a bookshelf on the other. There's a desk with a new laptop on it. I whistle and plop down on the bed.
"Damn. I should kill people more often." Tony murmurs a string of no's and moves my suitcase into my room.
"I'm only kidding. D-did you do this all for me today?" He shrugs.
"I mean, you're my niece and all, I wanted to give you a nice....whatever I'm too tired for this. I'm going to bed." He seems embarrassed and I smile.
"Goodnight Uncle Stank." He scrunches his nose at the name and closes the door behind me. I grab my suitcase and begin to unpack my things, careful to be quiet while everyone is sleeping. I fall asleep thinking about how grateful I am for my mother. I try to shove down the anxiety and guilt I feel from the day that keeps pulling me under like a wave.
After a restless night I get up and remember where I am. I crack open my door and I hear a few people talking and the sound of glass clinking against silverware. I shut my door quickly and pace around my room. I take a few deep breaths and get ready. I jump a few times to relax and walk into the kitchen.
"Good morning Y/n." Tony walks towards me and the Avengers all look up.
"Tony who is this?" A woman asks. She has red hair and an amazing bod.
"Everyone, this is my niece. Y/n L/n." I wave at them. Shit I'm nervous. I bet I look insane to these people.
"Hello all."
"She will be staying with us for a while. She got in a lot of trouble at school and now we have to teach her how to control herself."
"What'd you do Y/n?" A man with a metal arm walks up to me.
"Well, you see I got in one tiny little fight and my mom was all like 'oh you're too dangerous you're moving to your uncles house.' But it was this or juvie so," I tap on the guys arm. "Cool arm dude." He pulls his arm away and backs off.
"Welcome then little assassin. I'm Natasha Romanoff but you can just call me Nat." I smile and shake her hand.
"Wait. Why would you move all the way here just for a little fight?" A man who I recognize as the Falcon asks me.
"Tell them Miss Frizzle."
"I uh killed the prick I was fighting." I tell them and they all look up at me surprised.
"Language." A guy murmurs from the end of the table. He has blonde hair and blue eyes and huge muscles.
"Watch it hun. He's hundreds of years old." Another redhead woman whispers to me. I look at her odd.
"How did you know I was thinking about that?"
"I'm Wanda Maximoff and I read minds. It's a pleasure to meet you." She shakes my hand and I smile.
"I'll keep that in mind the next time I go to think about se-"
"Hey Tony!" Wanda interrupts me so I don't finish my sentence. Tony looks up and Wanda asks, "Has she met Peter?" Tony shakes his head. "Well. I think you'll like him. He's a sweetheart." Nat nods in agreement.
"Where is he?" I ask.
"He's with his aunt right now." I don't even know this guy. Why am I down about not meeting him?
Just to be clear, I'm not looking for a boyfriend. Boys, especially now, would be a waste of my time. Before the accident, I had a boyfriend, but after, he told me I was too emotionally unavailable for him and left me in the dust.
To be honest, after that stunt my ex pulled, I couldn't care less about the male species.
After that day, I spent a lot of time working on school work, which is ten times harder when you're homeschooled. And when the teachers are geniuses/Avengers, it's literal hell.
"Ugh damn it Banner. We've been working on this question for an hour! I'm going to just get the answer from Vision." I get up to leave and he grabs my arm.
"No no no. Stay here. You're really smart, most of the time. I won't let you just get the answers from robot man." He is right. I had the best grades in my old school with a 4.5 GPA.
"Ok well this isn't gonna work." I get down on my knees and clasp my hands together. "Please please please please let me get the answer. This is the last question on the worksheet and I've been working forever." He rolls his eyes and Thor walks in.
"Yeah let Lady Y/n go. She has been working forever and has a lot of actual work to do tomorrow. I bid you goodnight Banner." He jerks his head toward the door and I get up quickly.
"Au revoir green man." He makes me take my books and I promise him I'll study while I run out of his lab.
"Thank you so much Odinson. I was about to die in there. Hey what did you mean about actual work tomorrow?" We walk up to the door of my room. He laughs.
"Oh just you wait little one. We're starting your first day of training tomorrow."
