Y/n's POV:
It has been a few days since that night with Peter. Him and I have grown closer despite the walls I attempted to put up. Somehow, Peter has broke down every wall with ease, and I'm letting him do it.
I've become less and less sore when I wake up and have been able to adjust to the busyness of the tower pretty well. I've met every single Avenger and they're all like family to me now. They are able to distract me from the grief I feel because of the accident.
Well, most of the time.
It had been a really long day working out and I was exhausted. I couldn't focus for some reason and I had snapped at Peter because I was frustrated. I finally had crawled in bed without doing my night routine and fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
My dad takes a suitcase out of his lab and sits it down next to me. He seems distracted as he puts on his gloves and goggles. I sit on the counter and mess around with a stress ball he keeps on his desk. He gets two tiny vials of a black liquid and puts it into the case. I hum along to some old pop song he is playing in the lab.
"Dad, it looks too icy to go out there." I tell him as I look out the window. He shakes his head and locks the suitcase. He smiles reassuringly and pats my knee.
"The roads aren't that icy. We'll be fine."
My dad puts the suitcase in the back and my mom gives him a stern look. He smiles and kisses her as I pretend to puke. He laughs and we get into the car.
"Y/n is the best candidate for the experiment." He murmurs to my mom. I decide to ignore this and put my earphones in. I don't like to hear what my parents say about me, it stresses me out. It seems their argument is getting more angrier and my dad turns to talk to her more.
Then everything happens in a flash.
He loses control of the car.
It slides off the road.
He puts his hand out to stop my mom from flying forward.
We crash into a building.
Everything fades black.
I wake back up in the emergency room and look around. I'm blinded by bright lights and too-white hospital rooms. I can't move or breathe.
And I knew before I looked into my moms red, heartbroken eyes that he was gone.
I wake up horrified and begin to cry. I haven't had a nightmare that vivid in a long time. I breath in shakily and rub my arms. My whole body is shaking and I can't move. I try to relax and get myself under control. I suddenly hear a soft knock and I jump. The door opens quietly and Peter peeks in.
"Hey y/n." He whispers. "You okay?" His hair is practically sticking straight up and he is wearing his Spider-Man pajama pants again. His shirt is wrinkled and looks like he picked it up off of his floor and put it on quickly.
"I'm fine." I whisper as I wipe away the tears. I try to turn away from him but he puts a hand on my shoulder and turns me back to face him.
"No youre not." I shake my head and he slowly lays down next to me.
"Bad dreams?" He asks me quietly and I nod.
"I haven't had one so vivid in a long time." I tell him. He looks me in the eyes and even in the darkness of my room I can see he's truly concerned. He clears his throat and opens his arms awkwardly.
"C-can I give you a hug?" He asks and I almost cry again at how sweet he is. I nod as he pulls me in close to him. His strong arms wrap around my back but he makes sure they're not too far down my back. I wrap my arms around his warm neck and I breathe in his scent.
After a few precious moments like this I pull away and put my head on his chest. Somehow, I can sense he's blushing.
"I'm sorry for being a bitch earlier today." I murmur and he laughs. Peters voice is hoarse and tired, but his eyes are more awake than I've ever seen them.
"Language." He drops his voice trying to mimic Steve and I smile.
"I have nightmares sometimes too. I have to remind myself that it was just a dream over and over again until I relax enough to go to sleep." He whispers to me. I feel a wave of pity and take his warm hand. He doesn't pull away. My heart flutters as he rubs his thumb in circles on the back of my hand.
"If you ever have a bad dream again I'll come and save you." Peter says. I sit up and look at his face. I smile as he blushes.
"Why are you so nice?" He looks taken aback by the question.
"I don't know. I'm an Avenger it's my job." I roll my eyes and he smiles at me sleepily.
"I'll do the same for you if you need me. Now get to your room before Stark gets suspicious." His eyes widen as if he forgot we weren't the only two people in the world like I did. He crawls out of my bed and stretches. His shirt pulls up a little and shows the waistband of his underwear and his abs.
"Goodnight Y/n." He says before shutting the door.
"Goodnight Parker." I whisper.
Wait a second.
What the hell just happened?
