Two months later
Y/n's POV:
One of the first things Nat taught me when practicing fights is to picture someone in your mind who you hate; motivation to try your hardest when training. I used to not have someone in my mind. I couldn't think of anyone who I truly hated. Now I do.
Thank you dad.
The first week was really hard. I was in shock for a while, but then the anger seeped in. So did the pain and the disgust. Everything that was holding me up was broken down in an instant. Every memory I had of him was shattered, contorted to a whole other view.
My mom took me back home. She knew most of what he was doing, and she must've apologized a million times when I was there. I didn't have any room in my mind to hate her. I accepted it numbly and continued grieving for my past.
Peter and I had a silent understanding; we weren't going to start dating right away. I don't know if Tony would approve. Obviously I wasn't emotionally ready, but he still tried to be there as much as he could. Even when I pushed him away, when I yelled at him with tears streaming down my face, he stayed. I loved him even more for that.
Unfortunately, after I got back from staying with my mom, he had to go on a mission. He wasn't there when I started to finally feel normal again.
There were many ways that I coped. I started going to therapy, and if I wasn't already working out too much, it became an obsession. I immersed myself in activities that I enjoy, and most of it worked except for piano. I couldn't even look at the piano knowing that my dad was the force behind it. I felt bad for not using it, because Tony spent a lot of money on it.
"Frizzle, don't worry about the piano," he had said when I called him about it, "I think you forget sometimes that I'm a billionaire." That was enough consolation for me.
Something that I picked up quickly was painting. I had done a few canvases here and there, but nothing big. Looking back, it was one of the only things keeping me stable.
I ordered a large rectangular tapestry that almost covered a whole wall. I used one of the empty rooms to paint in. I went in there everyday, working for hours on end until my mom forced me to eat and take a break. By the day the team planned to come back from the mission, the painting was finished.
Peters POV:
I pull on a shirt and pack my suit away. This mission was hard, and I'm careful not to touch the bandage on my back as I put on my jacket. The whole team got pretty beaten up and we're all in a bad mood. I hope Y/n's feeling better. I've been worried about her, but more than that, I curse her father everyday for making her feel like this.
The team's down at the lobby eager to go home. I knock on the door that connects to Mr. Starks room because I left my keys in there. I've been sort of avoiding him, and I don't know why. The last time something happened like this, he told Y/n to break up with me. I don't want that to happen again.
"Hey kid." He says as he opens the door.
"Hi Mr. Stark I left my keys in here I'll be gone in a second." Why do I sound so nervous? I grab my keys and put them in my backpack.
"Sit down for a second." Oh no. It's gonna happen again isn't it?
I swallow and sit down on the bed. He closes the door and puts his hands on his hips.
"If this is about Y/n-" he cuts me off.
"It is. She's a good kid. A pain in the ass, but she's determined and strong." He looks at me as I nod in agreement.
"She needs you right now. She's already been through her dads death once and Its horrible that she has to go through this. I think you would be good for her. When she's around you, she just lights up. Which is disgusting and gross but," he trails off as I look at him eagerly.
