Peters POV:
I wake up and feel a searing pain in my side. I groan and try to sit up but I can't. Where's Y/n? Did she get hurt? I grab my phone and text her.
Where ru?
Before I can see if she replies, Bruce comes in.
"Hey Peter. How you feeling?" He asks as he checks my pulse.
"I'm doing okay Mr. Banner but my right side really hurts." He checks the bandage on my side and clicks his tongue. He turns to get a new bandage and when he does, y/n storms out of the room across the hall. She slams the door and runs her fingers through her hair, forgetting that the wall between us is glass.
She looks at me and I smile assuringly, hoping that she'll come in and say hi. Her hands slowly pull away from her hair and her bottom lip begins to tremble. A tear falls and she wipes it away as she walks quickly down the hall. Away from me. What was that for?
Tony walks out of the office and glances toward Y/n's direction. He takes a large breath before walking to my room.
"Hey kid. How you doing?" He sits down at the edge of the bed.
"I'm fine. Do you know why Y/n is crying?" I ask and fidget with my fingers. I always get nervous when adults are this close to me.
"Oh I think she's just tired because of the fight. I told her to go get some rest." I nod but by the way he said it I can tell he's lying.
"Can I see her?" I sit up and ignore the dizziness I feel. Tony puts a hand on my shoulder.
"Hey hey hey cool your jets kid. You got shot so you also need your rest. You can talk with her later." I lay back down and sigh. I am pretty tired, but I want to make sure she's okay. While Tony was talking, Bruce was injecting some sleeping medication into my IV. I begin to feel drowsy and fall asleep before I can ask anymore questions.

I'm beginning to lose it. For one, I've been in bed all week, not able to do anything. But the larger reason is that I haven't been able to see Y/n. I've been told that she doesn't want to see me, and when I text her she doesn't answer. I don't remember most of the fight, so I don't know if I did something to make her angry. But the unreadable look on her face before she ran away is stuck in my mind. She seemed angry, but when she looked at me, she seemed guilty? It doesn't make sense to me.
Somehow, May was able to talk to the school and give me a few days off so I don't miss anything while I'm recovering. I would've been stoked about this, because it meant spending a lot of time here with the team and Y/n. But ever since the fight, things have been off here.
Besides Y/n ignoring my existence, Tony has seemed distracted lately. Bruce has been helping me but other than that most of the team is gone. This isn't unusual. Most of the time, the others are out on missions or spending time with their family. It can get really quiet here, and I'm lonely.
I've tried to recount what went on before this. Y/n had gotten back from her moms house and was beaten up by Austin, who was disguising himself as her moms boyfriend. In reality, he was trying to take her for the serum. She wouldn't stop talking about it, and was always upset because she couldn't figure out what was going on. I told her the idea of going to the police station, and we went there after school. After that, I was waiting outside for her when I heard her scream. Then the fight happened. The last thing I can remember was holding her in my arms, both of us laughing and glad that this is finally over.
What did I do to make it all go wrong?
The next few days crawl by with no sign of Y/n. Her room is in the floor above my med room, but I still never see her. I distract myself by working out and trying to make up for the week lost by not getting out of bed.
It had been the third day since I was released from the medical wing when I got a sign that she was here. I'd been working out for a while and went back to my room to take a shower. Most of my stuff was packed to go back to Mays. One of the reasons I liked staying at the tower was because of y/n. But because I can't see her, it doesn't feel right here.
I walk in and see a cardboard box laying on my bed. I set my water bottle down and gently open the flaps of the box. There's two of my sweatshirts folded neatly inside, and when I open it more, I can see three pictures of Y/n and me.
The first one is us in our suits. She is holding up a peace sign and I can tell she's grinning underneath her suit. It's one of my favorite pictures of her.
The second one is from a photo booth. The picture on top is us smiling like nerds at the camera. The bottom one has her kissing my cheek, my face a bright pink. I remember how hard she had laughed at my bashfulness once we saw the pictures. The edge of the photo is torn a little, like she ripped the bottom two off and gave me the top half.
The final picture is one I haven't seen before. Sam had taken us to an ice cream shop in the city after we won a bet against him. Y/n had gotten up from the table, pretending like she was throwing away her cone when she smashed it onto my nose. Ice cream covered my face and I stood up, doing the same to her with my cone.
In the picture, our faces were covered in ice cream and we were laughing at each other's appearances.
I love her smile. I remember her tear-streaked face from the last time I saw her and I let it sink in. Why is she giving me this stuff back? What did I do?
On the bottom of the box is a piece of paper and immediately I can notice her handwriting. And just as quick I'm filled with so much bafflement that I have to read the simple note over and over again for my brain to process it.
Peter,
I'm so sorry.
