Y/n's POV:
Tony tells me that I cant leave my bed. It sucks, because I'm used to a busy schedule, but I don't complain. Why? Because Peter is here, and that's all I really care about right now.
I've always considered myself an independent person, not needing anyone to rely on. Not wanting anyone to rely on after what happened with my dad. But needless to say, without the superhero laying in my bed and whispering stupid jokes into my ear as we watch a movie, I honestly don't know what I'd do.
The next two days, I stay in bed and by the third day I feel fine. I wake up that morning and stretch. My ribs still ache, but the rest of my wounds have healed strangely fast.
Peter walks in with a plate of this pancake cake that May bakes. It's just pancake batter baked in a cake pan, but it tastes so much better than normal pancakes.
He sits down with me and we eat. We talk about everything, but he mainly talks about how much he missed me. He's been trying to hide the fact of how worried he was, but everything sort of seems to rush out now.
He turns the volume of the TV down and sets his plate on my nightstand.
"Peter what's wrong?" I ask, putting my plate next to his. I sit up and without any warning, he pulls me into a hug. He makes sure to put his arms lower around my waist to not hurt my ribs. I wrap my arms around his shoulders and put my face in the crook of his neck. He's tried to act normal around me, but he's kinda bad at hiding his emotions.
"Hey is everything alright?" I pull away to look him in the eye. He shrugs and I can see his eyes are watering.
"I'm sorry this is stupid." He shakes his head and laughs, but no humor laces his tone.
I force him to look at me and I realize he's picking at his fingernail. This is something that he does when he gets nervous.
"What's going on honey?" I ask and he fiddles with the hem of my shirt. Honey began to be his nickname when we were alone, as he reminds me of the soft color and sweetness the syrup has.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't be crying I just," he shakes his head again but I don't reply. I wait for him to say something, giving him enough time to relax.
"I just was so nervous when you told me about Austin, and I don't know. I hid it in front of the team because I wanted to look like I was strong. Then when Tony said that you sent an emergency signal, I freaked out. He made me stay with May and when you came here unconscious, I thought you died." The final word comes out choked and I don't have to hear anything else. His affection fills me with such a sudden sense of tenderness that I'm momentarily overwhelmed.
I hold him as tight as I can and I can hear him sniffle into my shoulder.
"I'm sorry Y/n I don't know why I'm so nervous. It's just I lost everyone during the blip and I couldn't bare the thought of losing you too." His nervous words make my heart ache.
I'm angry at the world for making him have to endure so much pain. I want to shelter him from all the hurt from the outside world, but I can't hide the growing guilt knowing that I'm also a culprit in this situation. I've also brought him worry and pain. I pull away and kiss him tenderly, trying to apologize and heal him like he has done for me in the way words cannot describe.
He grips onto my neck and waist and I put a hand on his chest. I love him. I've never felt this way about someone before. After losing my dad, I never thought I would be able to come this close to a person again. Although we're reckless, I can't see myself anymore without him in the picture.
I put my hands on his face and he kisses my thumb.
"Hey. You can mark my words. I'm never going to leave you. I promise. Im here and nothings going to change that. Ok?" He nods and kisses me again. He seems ashamed that he cried, but I love that he's able to be that vulnerable with me.
The rest of the day I spend with Peter and the team as they help me to walk and regain my strength. Tony lets me know that he talked with Austin, but he wouldn't say anything. Really, as long as he's in captivity, he's one of my least concerns right now. I want to have a normal winter break for a few days, and then I can go back to all of my worries and problems.
I ended up patching things up with my mom, and she had to go back home for work. She has texted me every day saying how sorry she is and asking me if I'm okay. Normally, she would only text me once a week, so this is a bit extreme. Still, I'm glad that she feels bad for this.
Later that evening Peter comes into my room holding a blindfold. I raise an eyebrow and set my book down.
"Damn Peter I didn't know you were that kinky." He rolls his eyes with a smirk on his face and motions for me to stand up. I sit up and he wraps the blindfold around my eyes.
"Get your head out of the gutter Y/L/N. I have a surprise for you." He takes my hand and he leads me out of my room. After a few run ins with walls, I can sense we're in the living room. He unwraps the blindfold and I gasp.
The team stands around the decorated room. Decorations of gold, green, and red are hung around and at the corner stands a huge pine tree. Large ornaments hang on the branches and dozens of presents surround the trunk. Christmas music plays softly in the background, and the entire team is wearing Santa Clause hats. Wanda holds a tray of hot chocolate and Sam has an ugly sweater on.
There's a familiar warmth that comes around this season and I tear up seeing all of this.
"Did you guys do this all for me?" I ask breathlessly. I can feel Peters eyes on me and I meet his eye. He's grinning this nerdy smile and nods his head, making his curls bounce. He's put on a Santa hat too and he looks adorable.
"Of course we did Y/n. We know you've been having a hard week so we wanted to do something nice for you." Nat says. I smile and thank them over and over again. We all sit on the couch and Tony passes out the gifts to all of us. We take turns opening them so we can see what everyone got. Everyone gets great gifts, and some worth mentioning are:
Loki getting a set of kitchen knives from Clint, Steve getting an old fashioned ice cream maker from Tony, and Bucky getting a vibranium cleaning kit from Sam and T'Challa.
Speaking of the royal family, I'm able to see Shuri again, and I forgot how cool she is to be around. She brought me a beautiful bracelet, and I bought her new Nike shoes.
After opening Nat's gift, which is a badass pocketknife and a set of earrings, Peter opens my present to him. I got him a vintage Nikon Fm2 camera because he has always taken pictures of anything he comes in contact with. I figured it would be cool for him to take professional shots, and he starts taking pictures of the group we call family right away.
Peter and Tony leave for a second and come back with a large box. Peter notions to me.
"Y/n, I saw this a while ago at a thrift store and bought it. I've been working with Mr. Stark to fix it up and um well here it is." He says nervously. I open up the box and see a large old record player. The one I had before was small and cheap, but this one is legit.
Not even caring about Tony looking, I hug Peter.
"I love it. Thank you so much." He grips my back and smiles. I kiss him on the cheek quickly and sit down again, admiring the record player and all of the people around me.
Once we've opened all the presents, some go to bed while most of us stay up watching Christmas movies on the huge flatscreen TV and drinking hot chocolate. Shuri puts her head in my lap and I rest my head on Peters shoulder, his arm wrapping around me. I can see Steve give him a thumbs up and Peter softly chuckles before resting his head on top of mine.
"Merry Christmas everyone." I say and the team say it back all together.
"Goodnight Y/n." Peter kisses my head as I say it back.
Despite all the shit that happened at the beginning of winter break, I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas with my family.
