PoV: Scourge

I was holding my breath the entire time we welcomed our guests. All of my company seemed to take a liking to Sonic, but the girls...

"I don't want Sonic alone in a room with anyone, understand?" I whispered another order to all of my guards through a small microphone in my collar.

"Understood," they replied quickly as I had them trained to.

"Now, be sure she has a good time," I watched as Connie took Sonic away.

I hadn't expected her to take an interest so early on. She was Conquering Storm, leader of the Rajiu group and one of my most powerful allies. If she took a liking to Sonic I'd have a safe place to send him if there was ever an emergency.

"Scourge!" My allies were calling for me. Sonic will be fine. I need to relax. He was a cop, he could handle some conversation between girls. I need to let him be.

PoV: Sonic

Connie, the brown lynx with black patterns on her ears, beside me suddenly handed me a brightly colored drink.

"You haven't had a single drink tonight. It's a fresh party, go on and have one," She smiled at me, all the other girls had half-sipped drinks in their own hands already.

"I'm really alright. I'm um... I'm not of age yet so-" I was cut off by their outbursts of laughter. Why are they laughing? Ah, what did I say?

"Oh Sonic, no cares if you're too young here. Drinks are for parties, and this is your party. Drink all you want, Rouge is the one who'll need her hair pulled back tonight anyway," Connie placed the drink in my hand and pulled me closer to her.

"Hey, I won't be alone this time. I'll have our new girl throwing up in the next bathroom," the white bat, who I assumed was Rouge, laughed.

"But man, seriously? Your parents took one look at a gorgeous baby girl and said I want to name her Sonic. You should change it. Why haven't you?" A bird covered with violet feathers got up from the ottoman and sat beside me.

"Is it because you haven't found a pretty name you like yet? We can help you think of one," another girl said.

"Oh no, my parents decided on a gender-neutral name for me. And isn't there that one show where the female love interest is named Sonic? It's only starting to become gender neutral, I think they just wanted the name while it was unique," I tried to put the drink down but the feathered girl brought it back up to my lips.

"I'd hate my parents for naming me that," She pushed it and the cup tipped into my mouth.

What what I do?! I can't let it spill onto the dress. Scourge hid the tag, I bet this cost more than my savings.

"Enjoying your first drink?" Connie took the glass and set it on the table. I needed to answer, they were just watching me.

One sip won't do anything wrong. I'll be fine. They just wanted me to taste it. I'll just tell them it's gross.

I swallowed down the bitter salty yellow drink they gave me. Alcohol was awful. The drink was gross, there was no need to say otherwise.

"Not really. It's too bitter for me. I'll stick with sparkling cider for the party," I tried to put the glass down and one of the guards handed me a new glass, it had sparkling cider in it, "Thank you."

"No, no. You just haven't tasted the right drink yet. Excuse me, can you make him something with strawberries in it?" Wave waved over one of the butlers, "Use your lightest gin."
