When I woke up the next morning, Vito was not in the room anymore.
But when I went downstairs, I saw him sleeping peacefully on the sofa in his usual crouch position whenever he lay there.
Lumapit ako sa kanya at hinawakan ang kanyang noo. Wala na siyang lagnat.
"Paggising ko nand'yan na siya." I look at Nanay Loida. Naghahain na siya ng umagahan sa lamesa.
"Good morning, 'Nay," I greeted cheerfully.
We both eat breakfast.
"Kumusta pakiramdam mo?" Nanay Loida uttered and went to him to check his temperature.
"Maayos na po. Salamat, 'Nay." I saw how his face become soft as he mentioned the word 'Nay. He was happy. Happiness is evident in his eyes and he deserves it.
Nanay Loida pat his head. She probably loves Vito like a child. She probably treat him like one a long time ago.
Tapos may pa-grand opening ako kapag natapos." I nod with his idea. That's good.
Time went too fast.
"Anong lulutuin mo?" I asked him. Nasa kusina kami pareho and he was chopping down onions. I pursed my lips to refrain myself from laughing.
I just nodded. Galante pala 'to kapag nagkakasakit.
"You want some help?" He just shook his head and continued what he is doing.
"Vito!" My eyes widened when I heard a familiar voice outside.
"It's Sean!" I exclaimed and when I am about to run and hide.
"Hey!" He is already inside the house. Gosh, his legs are that long?
"H-Hey, Sean. Biglaan ata dating mo," Vito stated as he walk and passed by me. Sinenyasan niya akong pumunta ng kusina kaya dahan-dahan akong naglakad papunta roon.
"I have no work today, ipakilala mo naman 'yong girlfriend mo," Sean uttered probably referring to me. Tinuloy ko na lang ang ginagayat ni Vito na sibuyas while my back is against them.
"Uh, no. Hindi ko siya girlfriend." I stumble with what I hear. Hindi sa nag-eexpect akong sabihin niyang girlfriend niya ako just like last time.
"Iba pa 'yong nandito last time?"
"It's the same. It's kinda complicated," Vito replied and then he chuckled. Mukhang nahihirapan na siyang mag-come up ng palusot, geez.
"Really? Hindi mo girlfriend o hindi mo pa girlfriend?" I heard Sean's laugh.
