Her Reign

Chapter 2

ALESSIA

We are just finishing up breakfast, it's Jaxson's turn to take the older kids to school while I take the younger ones. Everyday Jessica, Emily and I alternate with our spouses. For security purposes, we don't have them ride the bus.

Over the years, there have been many threats against us and some are even aimed at the children because some think it's easier to get to them than me but every attempt that has been made, has been intercepted. Nobody has gotten close to any of the kids due to the high volume of security we have placed on them.

The kids know they have bodyguards but are always unaware of the number of people watching them. I'm sure if Alena or Aryanna knew, they would throw a fit. They complain about the ones they see. Alena likes her privacy and sometimes likes to sneak off by herself to think. She has a special place in the woods where she likes to go. No matter how many times we tell her that it is dangerous, she still does it, but she never gets past her detail. They are always there.

"Bye, have a nice day in school and don't get in trouble." I said. They all yelled bye and took off into the school.

Now I must rush home because I have a meeting with several alphas coming to discuss each of their districts and what is going on.

As I pull up, I run inside and rush to my office. I hate being late because I expect everyone else to be on time.

"Good Morning everyone, sorry for being late, I had something important to take care of." I said.

"Good Morning." They all said in unison.

"Ok, so we're going to get right to it. I want to hear what's going on in your districts, any concerns you have or anything else I should know." I said.

As Alpha John started speaking, I felt myself getting frustrated. I have a feeling this is going to be a very long day.

"Why are you just now telling me this?! What have you done since you have been aware of these issues? You haven't sent me any reports of your course of action against these alphas!" I yelled. Everyone's head dropped.

The door opened and Jaxson and Jessica walked in. Without saying a word, they sat on each side of me. I knew they were going to be late, so I opened my mind link to allow them to hear what was said in the meeting.

I continued to look at this idiot and he's scrambling to come up with an excuse of why he's not doing his job. He starts mumbling out excuses that were barely audible.

"Stop! When I gave you this job..." I started to say but I began to see things inside his head, things that made me furious. I looked over at my warriors standing against the wall. They already knew what I wanted and stepped forward surrounding him.

"You can't be serious? How stupid can you be?" I asked in disbelief. Everyone was looking back and forth between the two of us. He said nothing. I shook my head and pressed my fingertip to my forehead.

"Please forgive me my queen. I promise if you give me another chance, I will fix it. I will change everything and do right by you." He pleaded.

"Not only are you disloyal to me but a disgrace to all those you failed. Ignoring my laws and rules in exchange for money and favors. You seriously got to be kidding me right now! Did you honestly think you could come in here and I wouldn't find out? The only reason you told me the partial story is because they are refusing to pay more. When I selected you, you had good morals and character. You treated your pack with dignity. What the hell happened?" I said.

"I don't know. I was doing my job and it got hard because those alphas gave me such a hard time and were completely against your laws. They were talking about rising against you. They don't think you're worthy of the crown. I may have allowed certain things to go on, but I kept them in line. We had agreements and everything was fine but then they just wanted more exceptions. I thought if I raised their prices, they would back down but they didn't so that's why I told you today what's going on." Alpha John said.

"It's not your job to decide what they can and cannot do. You had the crown and all my warriors behind you to enforce my laws, but you chose to take it upon yourself to decide. Effective immediately you are stripped of your duties and serve 5 years in prison. Do you realize that your choices may have caused others to be mistreated and abused? I do believe that I am letting you off easy. '' I said.

"Jessica, I need you to find a replacement for John as soon as possible." I said and she nodded.

The rest of the alpha's read their reports and let's just say that I'm not happy. They may have been doing their jobs but I'm still having issues with these arrogant ass alphas running their packs however they see fit.

After everyone turned in their reports, the alphas left, leaving the three of us alone. I gathered all the reports and handed them to Jessica.

"Please go through these and rank them in order from worst to best. It looks like we will be traveling soon." I said.

I could have them all come to me and handle it all at once but what's the fun in that. I want to see it for myself. I want their entire pack to witness what I'm about to do and I dare anyone to challenge me.

You would think I've been queen for ten years and after all the rumors and true stories about my abilities, they would abide by the laws. They think they can do what they want, they have another thing coming.

As we walked out of the office, Jake and Emily were walking in through the front door with all the kids. I can't believe our meeting took that long.

"Hey, my babies! How was school?" I asked.

"MOM! We aren't babies. You're so embarrassing." Jace said. I couldn't help but laugh.

"I don't care how old you get; you will always be my babies." I said.

Alena and Aryanna came up to me and gave me a hug. God, they have no idea how much that means to me. It makes everything better. I feel my nerves calm down and now I can finally relax and enjoy my family.
