ALESSIA
The beeping noise is driving me crazy. It’s constant and loud. I open my eyes, looking for the sound so I can shut it off. I notice I’m in a hospital room. I immediately reached for my stomach. It’s flat causing me to panic. I look around and the first person I see is Jaxson sleeping on the chair next to the bed. Jessica is in the chair on my other side with Thomas and Luke sleeping on the couch up against the back wall.
The beeping is getting louder and faster. My heart rate is going up as I remember what happened. The fight and how I got injured. Then I remembered the vaginal bleeding. Things got fuzzy after that before I remember nothing. Where is my baby?
Jaxson was startled. He first looked at the monitor before making eye contact with me. Once he sees that I’m awake, he immediately relaxed.
“Hey, Baby. How are you feeling?” He whispered.
“I’m good. Where is our baby?” I asked.
“Don’t worry, our son is fine. Molly took him to keep an eye on him, but she’s told me everything is good and he’s healthy.” Jaxson said.
My body immediately relax. My son is healthy and safe. I reached for the call button and pressed it. When someone answered, I asked for Molly to bring me my son. Jaxson leaned forward in his chair and held my hand. His thumb gently rubbing circles on the backside of palm.
“What’s wrong?” I asked. I can feel the tension in the way he’s touching me.
“Baby, I’m so happy that everything turned out fine but I’m furious that you put yourself in that position in the first place. How could you have allowed Isis to take control like that? She blocked me out and put both you and the baby at risk. We have never been so disconnected before. Yesterday, I saw a side of Isis that I’ve never seen before, and I don’t like it.” He said.
I laid there thinking about how everything played out yesterday. I’ve been so angry lately. I’m trying to figure out how Isis was able to take control like she did. I know when I saw that forced mark on that young girl and how weak she was, I allowed Isis to come forward, but I never planned to allow her complete control. I never would have thought she would block Jaxson out. Isis loves Jaxson and Max as much as I do. She loves our child, and I would have never thought she would put us at risk like that. I fought her for control, and she wasn’t having it. She blocked me out. Trying to get her to talk to me now, there is nothing but silence.
“I’m sorry. I don’t know what happened. I didn’t expect Isis to force her way out and take control. I knew she was angry as much as I was but for her to put us in a position that could harm our baby or block you out. I don’t know. She won’t talk to me. We have never gone against each other before. Jax, please forgive me.” I pleaded.
Before anything else could be said, the door opened, and Molly walked in. A nurse followed behind her wheeling an infant cart. I sat up in the bed, trying to get a look at my precious little baby boy. I just wanted to feel him in my arms.
“It’s good to see you awake Alessia. How do you feel?” Molly asked.
“I feel good. A little sore. When I move my arm and lower body, I feel pressure but I’m not in any pain.” I said.
“Good. We drew blood and checked you a couple of hours ago and everything is normal. You should be completely healed very soon. This little guy is hungry if you’re interested in feeding him. When he’s done. I want you to get up and start slowly moving around. If you’re able to do that without assistance, you should be discharged today.” She said.
Jaxson stood up and carefully picked up our baby, cradling him close to his chest with his arms wrapped around his tiny body which made him look huge. He walked to the edge of the bed and handed him to me. I couldn’t believe how perfect he was. He’s staring up at me with his father’s eyes. They are the softest silverish blue I’ve ever seen. I’m trying to blink the tears away so I can see. I pulled my gown down, low enough to expose my breast. As soon as his mouth touched my nipple, he latched on and began to feed. I’m mesmerized by him.
“He’s perfect.” I whispered
“Yes, he is.” Jaxson whispered back
I noticed everyone was awake. They all got up, wishing us congratulations before leaving us alone for the first time with him.
“How long have I been sleeping? Have you given him a name?” I asked.
“You have only been out since yesterday. His name is Breyson, just like you wanted.” He said.
Breyson. My heart is so full right now.
We sat there in silence while Breyson finished eating. After burping him, he fell asleep. I didn’t want to let him go. I can already tell that Jaxson and I will be fighting over him.
We both sat watching him sleep while a soft knock tapped on the door. It cracked open and Alena’s head tilted through the opening.
“May I come in?” She whispered. Jaxson stood up and walked toward her, grabbing her hand, and pulling her into his chest, hugging her tight.
“Daddy, I can’t breathe.” She struggled to whisper, and he let her go with a chuckle.
She rushed to my side, sitting on the side of the bed and gave me the ‘gimme fingers.’ I handed Alena her brother and she stared at him in awe. She touched his hand with her finger, and he grabbed ahold of it. Alena giggled when he wouldn’t let go.
“You’re going to rest for a couple of days and then we will be headed home.” Jaxson said.
“Jaxson, what are you talking about? We are here, it doesn’t make sense to go all the way home, just to come back and visit. Yes, I had a baby but that doesn’t make me weak. Please don’t treat me like I’m this fragile thing who can’t take care of myself.”
“You know damn well what I’m talking about. I know you’re not weak, but you just gave birth to our child and almost bled out last night. Also, do we need to bring up the issue with how Isis acted? She has never acted against you before! She has never blocked me, her mate out! She has never put our children in harm’s way but last night she did! You lost control and until you can become one with your wolf again, I don’t think you should be visiting any packs. You need to go home and figure out how this happened.” His voice bellowed throughout the room. I’m sure anyone could have heard him throughout the hospital.
Isis pushed through, I felt her anger and she was pissed. It radiated off me, my hands were shaking. My teeth were grinding together. I’m quite sure my eyes were glowing.
Alena got up from the bed with Breyson in her arms and sat in the chair on the far side of the room.
“How dare you accuse me of putting my pups in danger! I had full control of the whole situation. I needed you to trust me, but you didn’t. You kept fighting the block, telling Alena to call out to Alessia. You doubted me! You chose to believe that I was incapable of handling that piece of shit. Everyone has always doubted me and that’s why we are in this position now, but I never thought my mate would ever doubt me. You caused Alessia to fight against me and that’s the reason all this happened. If you want to blame anyone, blame yourself! I AM THE QUEEN AND THIS IS MINE! I am not running home scared. I will show everyone who I am and going against me will not be tolerated! NOW GET OUT!”
