Chapter 5

ALESSIA

I'm going to miss waking up in my own home. It's going to be a while before I can enjoy sitting on my back porch sipping on my coffee and spending time with my children. It's still dark outside and I must get ready if we want to be on schedule. I'm packing up the last of our things while Jaxson is just now getting out of the shower.

He walked out of the bathroom in just a towel. It's hanging low, exposing his sexy abs and v line. I love seeing his chest full of tattoos, especially seeing my name over his heart. He's drying his hair with an extra towel while I'm thinking about last night. After getting back to our room, I couldn't help myself. These pregnancy hormones are something serious and I'm taking full advantage of it. I feel sorry for the two rooms next to ours because Jax didn't go easy on me. Between the moans, groans and the bed hitting the wall, I'm sure they didn't get any sleep.

After all these years, I can honestly say that things have never gotten dull or boring. Our sex life has always been very much active and satisfying. Last night, as soon as the door shut, I was ripping his clothes off. I pushed him on the bed and quickly stripped out of my own clothes before climbing on top of him. I immediately started kissing him while grinding my body against his. He couldn't control himself anymore, so he flipped me over on my back and thrust inside of me hard. He didn't stop until both of us were very well satisfied several times. When we were done, we collapsed and got about two hours of sleep before getting up. He tried to get in the shower with me this morning, but I locked him out. I know if he did, we would be late.

We packed up and loaded and are on our way. Jessica and I are sitting in the backseat going over the reports that we have about Alpha Conner and his pack. There are things in the files that don't add up. Financial reports are incomplete and don't make any sense. What the hell is he doing with the pack's money?

Going down the dirt road, we are headed toward the main gate. I'm already irritated beyond belief and I have a feeling, things are going to get interesting. I immediately looked at the guard and cut his mind link off. I don't want him telling anyone that we are here. As our cars pulled up, I could tell he's just realizing what is going on. The look of panic is set across his face.

"I'm Queen Alessia, open the gate." I said.

"I'm sorry my queen but I need to notify my alpha before I open the gate, his orders." He said.

"I'm ordering you to open the gate. You are under my command and you will not notify your alpha or anyone else. Do you understand?" I said. He nodded and pressed the button, allowing the gate to open.

We all drove in at a high speed because I knew there were wolves in the trees that were on patrol. They were either going to do two things. Try to stop us or chase after us while we drive to the packhouse. Either way, they were going to notify their alpha. I don't have control of their minds if I can't see them. The only thing that was in our favor was that nobody knew who we were because all our windows were blacked out. They knew we weren't rogues but that's it.

We were flying down the dirt road. Dust was kicking up everywhere until we reached the front of the pack house. Several wolves that were on patrol were quickly surrounding our vehicles. Warriors and other pack members were coming out of the pack house ready to fight. Some have already shifted in their wolf. The crowd had grown and most, if not all the pack was standing by. We are still in our cars; I'm looking around trying to find this asshole of an alpha before I get out. I don't need him trying to hide or destroy anything before I can get my hands on him.

Once he made his way out of the house and through the crowd to the front of my car, my warrior jumped out and made a barrier in front of my car. The power that radiates from them is overwhelming and everyone can feel it. You could see the nervousness and worry in his facial expression but was quickly covered up by anger when I opened my door and stepped out.

I adjusted my clothes then took a few steps to the front of the car. My warriors were standing in front of me, but I had a clear view of Conner. I stared him in the eyes which I could visibly see pissed him off. Conner is one of the strongest alphas in the country, so he doesn't normally have a person staring at him the way I'm doing right now and since he hates me so much, this is killing him. If looks could kill, I'd be six feet under right now.

Jaxson got out of the car and stood beside me. When I said Conner was one of the strongest, Jaxson is stronger. Our pack is ranked first while Conner's is ranked third when calculating strength and size.

"Bow before your queen!" Lucas commanded while also staring at Conner.

Everyone's head dropped except for Conner's. His body was shaking trying to fight the command. Lucas being head warrior to the Queen's Guard, he holds more authority than an alpha. He represents me so why shouldn't he. After several seconds, Conner's body can't fight it anymore and his head drops but I can see his fists balled up at his side.

As he stood there with his head still down, I made my way towards the top step of the pack house. Everyone made way for me to pass.

"Good morning Dark Shadow Pack, I am Queen Alessia and I'm here because I've received reports that are concerning, and I've come to investigate those concerns. As your queen, I've made laws and from what I've been told those laws are not being followed. Members of this pack are not being treated fairly, and I have a serious problem with that. We are here to correct that and everything else that pertains to the wellbeing of this pack. Anyone that has information or concerns, please contact my team and share it with them. It will be completely confidential. My warriors are going to pass out cards with our contact information so you can speak to us in the privacy of your own home. I assure you; nobody will be punished for speaking up and by the time we leave here, changes will be made. Those that have ignored my rules and laws will be punished and everyone here will be heard. Also, at the end of my investigation, I will share those findings with you all. This is your pack and you have a right to know what is going on. You are all dismissed." I said.

I watched my warrior give the cards to everyone. I didn't want them to have to come and get one on their own because I don't know who can be trusted yet. I silenced Conner before my speech because I knew he would have something to say and I didn't want him intimidating anyone.

"Well then, I guess it's time to get down to business Conner. Direct us to your office, now." I commanded.

He stood tall and I could basically see the steam coming out his ear, eyes and nose. He was beyond pissed. Once he realizes that he's getting his title stripped from him if I find out those reports are accurate, he's going to explode.

Once we got to his office, Conner went to sit at his desk. Nope, sorry that's not happening.

"Conner, sit at the table on the other end. We have things that we need to discuss but first I want all your passwords to your accounts." I said. He laughed at me.

"There is no way in hell I'm giving you my passwords. You have no right to come here and tell me how to run my fucking pack!" He yelled.
