Chapter 24

DAMON

After Alena's dad left. The guy's mind linked me, asking if I wanted to go to the lake and hang out. The sun had set but there was a full moon. Everything was lit up. There was a clearing by the lake. Some of the others decided that they were going to go swimming and make a bonfire.

I asked Alena if she wanted to go. She mind linked her mom. After getting her answer, she smiled at me.

"My mom said yes. I just have to bring some guards with me." She said.

We walked downstairs. I could see her parents from the window. They were in the back of the house. It looked like they were having a serious conversation. I'm sure I was the topic of that conversation.

Her dad doesn't want Alena to be with me. I don't know why he hates me so much because he doesn't even know me. I'm not the type of guy who's been with many females. When I was with Melanie, I was faithful to her. Besides from my mistake with Britney, I haven't done anything with anyone else.

I know I'm supposed to find my mate soon. I've always looked forward to meeting her but right now, I hope that doesn't come any time soon. I want to be with Alena.

Ever since I saw her when she first started high school, I thought she was gorgeous. I was walking down the hallway and there she was. Melanie was holding my hand, talking to me about something but all I could do was watch Alena.

I remember when she looked up, her eyes got huge. Her mouth dropped and she stared at me. She didn't look away until one of her friends elbowed her to get her attention.

Later that day, I laid in bed thinking about her. I loved Melanie. We were together for a long time, and it wasn't fair to her so at that moment, I decided not to pay any attention to Alena.

A couple of months later, Britney, Melanie and the other girls told everyone that she liked me. I couldn't help but smile but I never let myself act on it.

Over the years, I paid no attention to her. When the girls would give her a tough time, I would defend her and tell them to stop but that's it.

When I found out Melanie cheated, Britney just happened to be right there. I was hurt and felt betrayed. I wanted to hurt Melanie as much as she hurt me but when I kissed Britney, it felt disgusting. I looked up and saw Alena. The look on her face, it hurt.

She avoided me at every chance. When I got the opportunity to sit in the car with her, I jumped on it. I didn't want to be too obvious, so I sat in the front. When I ignored her uncle and pretended I was sleeping, he kicked me out of the front seat. I wanted to talk to her, to grab her hand but I also wanted to not get my ass kicked by her uncle.

When they all got out of the car, I told Alena how I felt about her. She seemed so surprised. When I kissed her, she froze at first but then kissed me back. I wanted to do so much more but I knew I couldn't, so I enjoyed the kiss. I pulled her into my lap, but I had to be careful. I didn't want her feeling how hard she made me.

Afterwards, she ignored me again. It drove me crazy. At training, she glanced at me every now and then but quickly looked away when she saw I was staring at her. I almost got my ass kicked in training because my attention was on her and not the guy I was fighting.

When training was over, I followed her to her room. She didn't know I was behind her. We talked and started kissing. It got a little out of hand and I knew I shouldn't have left that hickey on her neck. I knew her dad was going to flip but at that moment, I didn't care.

When her dad came in, he flipped. I expected him to beat the shit out of me, but her mom came to the rescue. After I left, I knew she was going through a lot with her parents. I would have liked to have been there to support her but since I'm the cause of it, she told me to go.
