ALENA

My alarm just went off and I'm lying in bed. I really don't want to get up because I'm upset with my parents. Last night, they told me they were going to be traveling to different packs because there have been issues with troublesome alphas. I wanted to go but they said no. They told me that it could possibly be dangerous, and they didn't want their little girl getting hurt. When my mom said that, it pissed me off because yes, I'm human but I've worked so hard learning to fight. I get up every morning and bust my ass because I'm sick and tired of people looking down at me.

The stories I've heard from when my mom was younger push me to be better. She was a kick ass human. My grandfather trained her since she was a little girl and pushed her to be as strong as she could. To know that she could fight a male werewolf and win, that's what I want. I take my training very seriously because many in the pack don't see me as one of them.

Don't get me wrong, I have friends. Our group of five, we do everything together and they treat me no different than anyone else. Most of my pack respects me except for a few who like to give me a hard time. They are juniors and seniors who like to bully anyone they see fit. Since I'm the daughter of the Queen of werewolves and my father is an alpha who isn't my biological father and I'm human, that makes me a target for them.

The things they say don't affect me because I know my parents love me very much. My father may not be my real father, but he is in all that counts. Never have I felt any different than my siblings. The love they show me is unconditional, but I do get tired of hearing them make fun of me all the time. It gets old.

Last year when I was a freshman, I got into a few fights because of it. Of course, I won but I got in trouble with my parents. I'm supposed to be at school to learn and not let them get to me. My father told me that part of my training was to learn to control my anger, but my father and brother have no problem going all crazy on people to protect me. After my mom would leave the room, my father always fist bumped me for winning the fight but would tell me not to do it again. I know he is worried about me, but I can handle myself.

My school is in neutral territory and it currently schools three different packs. I am the only human and those from the other packs are the ones who give me the hardest time. At first, they were cautious but once they realized that I wasn't going to run home and tell on them, it got worse. It's nothing physical. They wouldn't dare touch me, but they do stuff to try to embarrass me.

For the last two years, I've had the biggest crush on a senior. He's an alpha from another pack. I've never spoken to him. He has a girlfriend, Melanie and she is such a bitch. One day I was sitting there at lunch and she caught me staring at him. I was in my own world daydreaming that one day he would notice me when she walked up to me and let me have it. Let's just say, the whole school knows I like her boyfriend. His name is Damon. He's 17 years old and built like a god. His dark tan complexion with bluish green eyes and black hair with muscles to die for is the source of many of my dreams. He doesn't bully me and if he's around, he will tell others to shut up when they say stuff about me but otherwise, he doesn't seem to notice that I'm there. UGH! I wish he was my mate. My mother got a mate so I have hopes for one, but Melanie tells everyone that when Damon finds his mate, he's going to reject her so they can be together. I just wish he would see that she wasn't worth it. She acts all innocent around him but when he's not around she turns into a she devil.

"ALENA, IT'S TIME TO GET UP!" my father yelled.

I jumped up out of bed and put my workout clothes on along with my sneakers. I pulled my hair up in a ponytail and ran downstairs. I went into the kitchen and grabbed my bowl of cereal that my father just finished pouring and we walked out the door to go train. The others were trailing behind me, but it usually takes them a little longer to fully wake up.

It's still dark out, the sun will be rising soon while my father and I make it to the training field. By now, I'm done eating so I sat down and started stretching.

"What's going on with you this morning? It doesn't look like your head is in it today." my dad said.

"I'm fine. Didn't sleep too well because I was upset that you won't let me go with you guys. Dad come on. I deserve this. I work hard and you're treating me like I'm a little defenseless human kid who's going to get eaten up by the big bad wolf." I said. He said nothing.

I took off running on the course we take every day. I can hear my dad running behind me, but he hasn't caught up yet. I'm a fast runner. Most can't keep up with me. I guess you can say that it's the one thing I have over everyone else. Ha!

During training, I put one hundred percent into it. I held nothing back and I kicked ass big time. I fought like my life depended on it. Let's just say, I wouldn't say I won but I definitely surprised him. At one point, I looked over and saw everyone else staring at me with their jaws dropped. My dad is going to be a little sore until he heals because I landed several kicks and punches that I know hurt.

Once he realized I was trying to kick his ass, he handed it right back to me but I'm proud that I handled myself. I dodged many of them. When he called it quits because it was time for us to get ready for school, I saw him holding his side. I couldn't help but smirk. The big bad alpha is sore. Poor old man.

"How did training go?" my mom asked as we walked through the back door into the kitchen.

"Alena kicked Dad's ass today. You should have seen her! She was a beast!" Jace yelled.

Everyone started laughing while my mom went to my dad and gave him a hug. When he winced in pain, she looked over her shoulder and winked at me with a prideful smile. I couldn't help but smile before going upstairs and to get ready for school.

When I came downstairs, everyone was standing at the front door waiting for me so we could leave. As I grabbed my bookbag, my mom called my name.

"Alena, I was talking to your dad and I wanted to talk to you about something before you left. I know you're really upset about our conversation last night. We have decided that we are going to change things around. I don't want you coming with us right away because the first several packs we are going to are dangerous and we don't know what to expect but later on, we will send for you to come with your detail. You must follow orders. This is not a game, this is serious. You can't go running off on your own and disappearing. Do you understand me?" my mom said.

I nodded my head and ran into my parent's arms. I hugged them both tight and squealed in excitement.

"You earned it today baby girl. I'm proud of you." My dad whispered to me. He wrapped his long arms around both of us and picked us up off the ground, spinning us.
