Alessia
We arrived at my parent’s house early this afternoon. When my mother opened the door and saw her new grandson, she was in total bliss. I don’t think she paid anyone else any attention. After we sat in the living room, resting on the couch, she seemed to finally remember Alena being there. She excitedly called her over to give her a hug. My father welcomed the rest of us and then couldn’t take his eyes off Breyson.
We sat and talked. I told them what happened which resulted in going into labor early. I explained the fight that I had with Jaxson. My mother insisted that we work things out without arguing but my father seemed to understand Jaxson’s point of view. He tried explaining to me what Jaxson felt from a man’s/wolf standpoint but also knew I’ve never been the type to hide behind a man. He didn’t raise me to be that way.
My parents know about werewolves, and they asked many questions when we told them. Jaxson and my father have had many private conversations about mates and his love for me, so he understands the possessiveness and wanting to protect. It’s not much different than humans, just intensified.
After our conversation, I tried calling Jaxson and he didn’t answer the phone. Thomas said he went for a run. I expected him to show up by now. I’m surprised that he hasn’t.
As my mother was preparing dinner, I brought Breyson into my old room to feed him when I tried to mind link Jaxson. He has his block up. I could push through it but maybe he just needs some time to himself. I’m sure he will reach out when he’s ready.
After Breyson was finished eating and burped. He fell asleep. We went back downstairs. I laid him in his portable bassinet that we had delivered to my parent’s house. While driving here, we went online and had several things ordered since I wasn’t prepared to give birth yet.
When leaving the hospital, they gave us diapers, wipes, blanket, and a couple of onesies so we would have something to have before going to the store.
I walked into the dining area and saw Alena and Courtney sitting next to each other looking at her tablet. They were heavily concentrated. I walked over and looked over their shoulders to be nosey. They were on the same website that I ordered Breyson’s stuff. I happened to look at the little red number that was highlighted by the shopping cart.  Please tell me why I saw three digits.
“Hey, hey. What are you doing? We don’t need all that stuff right now. Don’t you remember we are on the road and don’t have enough room to fit all of this.” I huffed.
“Don’t worry mom. We are going to have some delivered here and the rest is going to be shipped back home so Brey has everything when we get there. You didn’t buy much before you left so his room is almost empty.” Alena said.
When I ordered the first time, I only got a handful of outfits, stroller, sling, his bassinet, diapers, wipes, and onesies. I was rushing so it would be delivered quickly. I wasn’t in the mood to search the site for everything.
“Fine, but before you checkout, I need to see what is coming here and what you’re sending home. I can only imagine what you put in the cart. Remember, babies grow quickly so there is no point buying too many clothes because he won’t wear them that long plus there is a thing called a washer machine.” She laughed at me.
“Alessia, leave her alone. She is excited. It’s been a long time since you have had a baby and she wasn’t able to do this when the twins were born.” My mom said.
My mother brought dinner to the table, and I didn’t realize how hungry I was. My stomach growled loud enough for everyone to hear, and everyone laughed.
“Alena, how about you tell me about this boy you brought to dinner the other night?” My mother asked her. Alena smiled brightly.
“Grandma, he’s the best. I’ve liked him for so long, but he was dating someone else. When they broke up, we talked a few times before he told me he had feelings for me. Dad found out and flipped but Mom came to the rescue and calmed him down. Whatever Aunt Jess and Mom said to him, he came to talk to me. I know Dad doesn’t like it, but he said OK. Damon was there when we were attacked, and he did everything to protect me. He was there afterward for me, and we have been spending a lot of time together. We have really strong feelings for each other.”
My mother smiled at her, but I could feel my father glaring at the side of my head. I know he wants to say something but when I glanced at him, he was trying to hold his tongue.
“You’re a smart young girl so I’m sure I don’t have to remind you to be careful. Besides, I’m sure you have already heard it plenty for everyone else.” My mother said and Alena nodded.
“Won’t this boy soon find his mate?” my father asked.
“Yes.” I said.
“What is the chance of Alena having a mate? I know she is human but so were you.” He asked.
“We don’t know. She is too young right now to know. She will be sixteen next week, but you don’t usually find out until you turn eighteen. She is human so she won’t know exactly if someone is her mate, she will feel an intense attraction that will grow quickly. There have been some cases when an older male has claimed someone younger is their mate. They say they feel the bond, just not as strong. The only problem with that is some are not truthful. I just had a situation just like that happen. For two years, he lied, and it all blew up. He used his power to keep the girl even though she didn’t belong to him.” I said.
“What happened?” my mom asked.
I explained everything Mia went through. Since Wilkins forced his mark on her and she never accepted it, her true mate will be able to mark her. The only problem is since she is pregnant and so weak, she has to wait for him to mark her. We also don’t know how her body is going to handle the pregnancy. She has had three miscarriages already. From what I’ve been told, she is farther along than the previous ones, but her body is not meant to carry an alpha child. She will have to be closely monitored by a doctor. I know she is terrified. Hopefully her mate will be at her side and help her through all of this.
“Well to change the subject, I met my biological paternal grandmother at the restaurant the other night.” Alena stated. She practically looked bored saying it.
“WHAT?!” Both my parents screeched at the same time.
“Yup. When she saw Mom, she remembered her. She insulted her by calling her names. Mom was too busy calming Dad down to do anything, but I grabbed her and pushed her into the wall. When she looked at me, you can tell she was trying to put it together. I’m sure she knows or at least suspects it.” Alena said.
I haven’t spoken to Alena about this, so I don’t know how she feels about it. We really didn’t have the time alone for me to bring it up but I’m glad she is now.
“Alessia, I know things are different now, but I don’t trust that woman. You are the queen of werewolves, but she could take you to court and say you kept her granddaughter away from her all these years. That woman has money to make things happen. Aren’t you worried?” My mother said.
“I’ve checked New York laws. She could only sue for grandparents’ rights, but it would have to be in the best interest of the child. There is no age limit for the child to decide but they do take in consideration on what the child wants. Yes, I did hide Alena from her, but Alena knows everything. It was her choice if she wanted to meet them. She knows if she ever wanted to, I wouldn’t prevent her. I only want what makes her happy. Jaxson has also told her that he would never feel offended if she came to us and asked us to set it up.” I said.
“I don’t want anything to do with her. The way she treated my mom and refused to allow her to say goodbye to the man she loved when he died, then do what she did the other night, she is nobody to me.” Alena said.
“Well then. Let’s just stay alert and cautious. I’m going to speak to my lawyer and find you the best in the state so if she does go that route, we will be ready.” My dad stated.
