JAXSON
I’m walking down the hallway, coming from Alena’s room. Alessia is walking beside me. She is quiet but I can feel the tension brewing up inside of her. I can’t exactly figure it out because my head is all jumbled up.
I know how I feel regarding this situation but between Alessia, Jess and Alena, they have managed to manipulate me into changing my mind. They do this all the time and no matter how many times I tell myself that I’m not going to fall for it, I do like a damn idiot.
Rethinking about what Alena said, all I can say is well played. She used the exact words and enough tears to have me eating out of the palm of her hand. Alessia has definitely taught her well.
Then I started thinking about how I acted the last time I saw Alessia. I’ve never spoken to her like that and damn sure have never ignored her and stormed away. I can only imagine what she is thinking about.
My nerves may have calmed a bit since this whole situation has blown up, but my feelings remain the same. I don’t approve of this relationship. I don’t want him anywhere near her. I just need to figure out a way to do that. It would be better if he just found his mate on his birthday then he would be out of our lives for good.
As we walked downstairs, I followed Alessia into the office. It's late and as far as I know, we are done working for the night, so this means she wants to talk to me. The office is soundproof so I’m sure she will have colorful words to share with me.
I opened the door for her, standing to the side for her to come through before closing and locking it. I sat down on the couch while she said across from me in the chair.
She looked straight at me, but she said nothing.
“Now that we are alone, what do you have on your mind?” She asked but I have a feeling she has already gone inside my head and already knows.
“Alessia, I apologize for my behavior, but I don’t approve of this relationship. I don’t think she is ready for a boyfriend, much less an alpha boyfriend. Thomas told me he has issues with his dad, and I don’t want her getting caught up in their mess. I also think if they continue to be together, he’s going to want to have sex. I’m not ok with this.” I said.
“So, what you're saying is, you basically lied to Alena just now?” She asked.
“I didn’t lie. I told her I didn’t like it. I may have to put up with it because I feel like I have no choice but that doesn’t change how I feel.” I said.
“What are you going to do?” She asked.
“What the hell can I do?! Not a Goddamn thing! All I can wish for is for him to find his mate as soon as possible.” I said.
I can feel my anger is about to get the best of me again and I’m trying really hard not to aim it at Alessia.
“Jaxson, I don’t like it either, but you basically just gave your consent, so you have to find a way to get over this. If you go back on your word now, Alena will be angry and upset with you. She has deep feelings already for this boy, you're only going to push her towards him even more. She’s going to want to prove to you that you were wrong, and Demon is good for her. You will be the one who hurts her. You have to figure this out and fast.” She said.
I punched the wall. I’m so frustrated. Why did this little shit have to like my baby girl?
“Oh, and by the way, it's time to discuss your behavior earlier towards me. Don’t think I have forgotten that.” She said.
Alessia stood up with her hand on her hip, giving me the look. I’m in so much trouble.
“I’m really sorry for my behavior, baby. I should have never acted like that toward you and I’m sorry. Please forgive me.” I begged.
“It’s going to take a lot more than that for me to forgive you. Do you even realize how you spoke to me? Ignored me? Walked away even after I called your name several times? I’m already stressed about being away from home and now I must deal with my emotionally unstable husband. You are a king, act like it.” She said.
She glared at me for a couple seconds before turning around and walking off. I called her name and she ignored me just like I did to her before. Yeah, she’s going to drag me before she forgives me.
“What the hell was all that about?” Thomas said, walking up behind me.
“Where have you been? I haven’t seen you since we talked in the woods.” I asked.
“Man, I wasn’t about to come back with you. I knew Alessia would have your ass if you came back acting like a fool, so I took a walk.” Thomas said.
“Really, you're an asshole. Yeah, I got my ass handed to me but not by Alessia. Alena played me. She put on the tears and knew exactly what to say to make me agree to her dating that shitface.” I said.
“Well, she is just like her moth…” Thomas was interrupted by the door flying open.
“ROGUES!” A young boy came in screaming.
‘Baby, where are you? There are rogues invading.’ I mind linked Alessia.
‘I’m coming downstairs. Jax, Alena went outside with the others.’ She mind linked back.
I took off running through the house. I saw Alessia from the corner of my eye, coming down the stairs but I didn’t stop. I pushed through the door, shattering the frame. As soon as I made it outside, I shifted into my wolf.
My paws hit the ground, I looked around and saw a few rogues fighting warriors, but I didn’t see Alena. There weren’t many people out, so I knew they were attacking somewhere else.
‘Alena, where are you?’ I mind linked her.
‘Daddy, I’m in the woods by the lake. We are being attacked. There are so many, and they are all trying to get to me. Everyone is trying to protect me. Please hurry. Daddy, if I don’t get a chance to tell you later, I love you.’ She mind linked me back.
‘Baby, we are coming! I’ll be right there. Fight, remember what I taught you.’ I said.
‘EVERYONE GO TO THE WOOD BY THE LAKE! THE ROGUES ARE TRYING TO ATTACK YOUR PRINCESS! PROTECT HER! I SWEAR TO GOD IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO HER, YOU WILL ALL SUFFER!’ I mind linked everyone. I’m panicking.
I don’t think I’ve ever run so fast in my life. I’ve already made it to the woods. The trees are flying by. I felt sick to my stomach, praying that I get there in time. I swear to the Moon Goddess, I will kill every last rogue.
Alessia can’t shift. She could put the baby in danger in doing so. Her powers don’t work on wolves that she can’t see so right now, she is powerless. I can feel her emotions and I know she is a mess. The thought of her not being able to protect her child is the most horrifying feeling in the world.
I’m almost there and I can hear the pounding of paws behind me. All my warriors and other fighters are coming. I quickly looked over my shoulder and I could see everyone right behind me. Thomas was leading the way.
I continued to run; I could smell the blood before I could see anything. There was lots of growling and screaming. I jumped over a huge fallen tree and that’s when I saw everything.
Rogues were everywhere. I looked around for Alena. I couldn’t find her. I stopped to scan the area, trying to locate her. The warriors ran right past me and started attacking.
Using my wolf’s night vision, I scanned the area again. At the far side of the opening, Alena was fighting a wolf. There were several wolves around her fighting. They circled around her, trying to protect her, but they were severely outnumbered.
I took off running, knocking everyone out of my way. My only target is to kill the wolf that is snapping at my little girl’s neck. She is fighting with everything she has in her.
Right before I got to her, the wolf leaped up and jumped towards her neck.
