JAXSON
What the hell just happened? One second, I’m watching Alessia talk to Mia, then the next, she is practically flying across the room attacking Wilkins, half shifted. Her eyes are ice blue and from what I can feel, she is beyond pissed. Her claws have extended from her fingertips. Her body has gotten taller, and her fangs have grown.
I have no doubt that she is capable of handling herself, but she is too close to giving birth. She is vulnerable and something could easily go wrong. I don’t think Wilkins is stupid enough to do something, but she disrespected and embarrassed the hell out of him in front of his pack. He’s capable of anything.
I rushed towards her with Thomas and Lucas right at my side. Right before I could get to her, I felt a forceful barrier pushing us back. I tried to mind link her, but she blocked me out.
“Alessia, I need you to calm down. Please baby, you can’t get yourself worked up like this. Please, think of the baby. Alessia! Damn it, please calm down.” I pleaded but she is not listening.
I usually have a good connection with her wolf Isis but it’s not working right now. She is completely zoned out. I know she’s been stressed with everything going on and frustrated with all these alphas not showing her the respect she deserves but I never would have thought it would come to this. The safety of our child has always come first. She’s always stepped back and let me or someone else handle things for her.
Alessia has her claws dug into his neck. He’s taller than her but when she pushed him against the wall, it knocked him off balance, his legs were out in front of him, bringing him down to her height. The blood oozing from his neck is seeping into his white shirt. His face is starting to turn blue from the lack of oxygen. He’s grabbing her wrists trying to break free.
Suddenly, he lets go of her wrists and raises his arms up, bringing them down with as much force as he can. One arm came down on top of her arms while his other elbow came down into her face. Blood rushed down her chin. I shifted, desperately trying to get through the barrier. She released one hand and punched him, knocking him off his feet onto his back.
It’s killing me to watch and there is nothing I can do. I’m going crazy. I flipped the conference table over on its side, chairs flew across the room. Besides the guards and warriors, everyone else ran out of the room screaming.
Wilkins jumped to his feet, he started to shift. Halfway through, he dropped to the floor. He returned to human form, screaming. He’s lying there in a fetal position with his hands covering his ears.
Still trying to get to her but she won’t let me in. Her eyes are so bright, Isis is in full control. I can see her shaking, she’s furious.
I’m still in wolf form when Alessia grabs Wilkins by the hair. He has stopped screaming but she drags him towards the door. She still has the barrier up so it’s forcing everyone out of her way.
“EVERYONE OUTSIDE! NOW!”
Everyone is running through the door behind her, tripping over each other. Thomas quickly picked up Mia and carried her outside. Her voice boomed but also came through the mind link for the pack to hear.
Alena came running down the stairs while I tried to break through Isis’ mind link. She blocked me but I know she could still feel me trying to get in.
The pack started to form outside the pack house. Everyone looked terrified, watching Isis drag their alpha down the stairs and throw him to the ground. She is still half shifted; her eyes are glowing brighter than I’ve ever seen before. Her body is shaking in anger. She is circling around him, daring him to get up, taunting him.
“Stand up!” She yelled.
Wilkins stumbled to his feet, glaring at her. His fists are balled up tight at his sides. By looking at his body language, he wants to strike and I’m praying that he doesn’t. I know she can handle herself, but my child’s life will be on the line.
I know Alessia has been under a great deal of stress with everything going on. She is having a tough time dealing with the previous attack, and watching Alena pretend that everything is ok when she is not. We haven’t confronted Alena about it but we both know she is bottling everything inside and is suffering. Alena has always worked so hard to be strong and this struggle makes her feel weak. I understand and we constantly tell her how proud we are of her, but she doesn’t seem to believe it and seeing that bitch last night almost put her over the edge. We know something is going to happen, but we don’t know what.
Alessia and Isis have always been so connected. They rarely ever disagree and communicate very well. I know Alessia would never risk this and before this moment, I would have said the same thing about Isis. I know they have all these powers but dammit, this isn’t worth the risk. I’m furious at them. Alessia should have never allowed Isis to take over. She is stronger than that. Then for her to block me, she’s never done that before.
I’m circling around them. I’m as close to the barrier as it allows. My body is tense, my hackles are raised. I growl at anyone that gets too close. All my focus is on my wife. The mother of my children.
The warriors from the pack have all reached the front of the crowd. They are tense, unsure what to do. They are trained to protect their alpha, but they aren’t foolish to attack me. I gave a warning growl for them to back off. They hesitated but they finally did. Taking steps back but not fully submitting which infuriates me even more. I lunge forward, pushing them back several more steps. I’m baring my teeth; my eyes have shifted.
“Where is her true mate?” Isis asked. Her body is tense, and she is glaring at him.
Wilkins refused to answer. He defiantly glared back at her. He stood with his shoulders back and his head held high. Moments later, he has decided to speak.
“He’s dead. When he was taken into custody, he attacked one of my warriors and was killed in self-defense. She is my mate and pregnant with my heir. The law states that because she is pregnant with my heir, she will remain my mate.”
“You have violated multiple laws including false imprisonment and rape, among other things. Do not stand there thinking that you have any say on anything. You are a disgusting, heinous, vile excuse of an alpha.” Isis said.
Isis turned away and called one of the warriors from the pack to come forward. His eyes widened and his body tensed. He stumbled forward until he reached the barrier.
“Go to the dungeon and retrieve Michael Johnson from his cell.” Isis said
“He’s dead!” Wilkins screamed but Isis shut him up.
“Warrior, I command you to do as I say, I know he is alive, and I want him before me immediately.” Isis said.
The warrior ran off into the forest with two royal guards following him. Isis and Wilkins stared at each other without saying anything. There were whispers among the crowd. They were unsure of what was going on.
“Daddy, what is going on? Why is Mommy blocking me out?” Alena mind linked me.
“It’s a long story that I'll explain later but she blocked me out too. Isis is in control, and I can’t seem to get through to her. Alena, I need you to go up to the barrier and get Isis to allow your mother to gain control. Hopefully, she will listen to you. She is so angry, and she’s not focused.” I responded back to her.
Alena made her way towards the barrier, not getting too close. Wilkins notices her and is watching carefully. I suspect he’s waiting for an opportunity for Isis to show any weakness. I slowly got behind Alena in a low position, ready to react if necessary. If he’s able to strike, I don’t know if she will keep the barrier up or not, but I must be ready.
My heart is beating out of my chest. I’ve only felt this powerless a couple times in my life and it’s the worst feeling ever. I know Alessia and Isis can handle themselves but during the shift back, there is a split second that she is vulnerable.
“Isis, please calm down and allow my mom to regain control. This isn’t good for the baby. I know you don’t want anything to happen. Please let Daddy handle this. I need you to lower the barrier. Please!” Alena yelled.
You can see that battle within. Isis is so furious that she doesn’t want to stand down, but she knows the risks. Isis loves Alena and is torn on what to do. Ever since I marked Alessia, they have never battled for control. Isis has always put our children first.
We watched her eyes flicker. They are constantly changing. Alessia is fighting to get back, but Isis doesn’t want to let go yet. At what felt like forever, Alessia is shifting back. Her claws are getting shorter. Her body is going back to normal. It’s not happening fast enough giving Wilkins the opportunity to shift. He lounges at her. My heart stops.
“MOMMY!”
