One week after the exam
Your finger felt raw and uncomfortable as you continued to gnaw at it.
"Honey stop that, you'll hurt yourself. It's a terrible habit." Your mother said, placing her hand on your shoulder.
"Sorry mom, I'm just feeling a little nervous."
You both continued to eat your dinner, but you ended up just playing with your food, letting your thoughts run wild with the possibilities of your results.
You excused yourself from the table to go rest on your bed. Plopping down on the bed while letting out a sigh, you tried to recall the practical exam.
You remember waking up and slashing around due to your headache, it was a terrible pain as if your skull was slowly being stabbed by millions of knives while being crushed by a boot at the same time.
Recovery girl had to heal you, after doing so she explained that the migraine caused blood to leak from your eyes, ears and nose.
I must have been too reckless and hurt myself...
Your eyes began to weigh down, feeling heavier by the minutes. Ultimately, you let unconsciousness overtake you and fall into a deep unmoving sleep.
By the time your eyes opened, they would have to reshut as the blinding Sunrays peaked from your window. Your legs are wrapped around a pillow as well as your arms on a different one. A sleeping habit you've recently developed, becoming a cuddle bug.
You groaned softly, using your arms to protect your sensitive eyes. You shifted over to the edge of the bed, letting your pillows fall to the ground. You dozed peacefully while letting the sun warm your back.
You looked all around your room lazily, daydreaming whilst doing so. It was the letter on your bedside table that snapped you from your mind wandering. A pure white letter marked with a red stamp with the U.A symbol and your home address.
Grabbing it cautiously, almost as if it was a bomb, you opened it. Reading the letter's contents, you're eyes scanned it but took in all information it offered.
You sighed.
Walking out of your room with a letter in hand you found your nervous mother sitting on the sofa. She was chewing her nail, lost in a world of her own.
I see where I get my habits from now
"Mom, stop that, you'll hurt yourself. It's a terrible habit." You mimicked her voice playfully.
She gazed at you, giving a smile at your joke but immediately straighten her face when switching her gaze to the letter. Her eyes showed worry.
"W-Well? D-Did you read it? I promise I didn't! You were still asleep when it came in so I thought I'd just leave it on your table."
You sat gently next to her, handing the letter back to her, you rested your head on her shoulder while keeping your eyes down. A weak smile struggled to form.
" I-I got in... "
You didn't understand why you felt nervous instead of happy, this was your dream school yet you felt as if this was a mistake. Were Bakugo's harsh words finally convincing you that you weren't enough? You didn't feel like you would fit it. You felt like this school would be no better than the last, everyone would judge you. Laugh at you. Tell you the words that made you want to ball your fists and cry.
Your thoughts were interrupted by your mother's happy cheering, she hugged you close almost suffocating you in her chest.
"Mom! Mmft! You're suffocating - mff- me! " You muffled while wiggling away from her.
Tears streamed from her eyes, "I knew you could do it (Y/N)!" She clasped her hands after wiping away the tears, "I'm going to make us your favourite dinner as a celebration!" She hopped off the couch, kissed you on the head and began preparing for breakfast.
It's nice seeing mom so happy, I'm glad we've become so close again. Even though I feel scared to go, I'm confident to do my best, to make her proud.
You returned to your room while your mother was distracted, taking the time to properly let the reality of your future sink in. The idea of going to a new school and being picked on again made your stomach twist and scrunch, causing you mild nausea and dizziness. Letting the swirling world push you backwards, you fell onto your bed.
It became hard to breathe when thinking about the pressure that would be put onto you. After letting the thoughts rip and tear away your confidence you decided to let sleep take over your mind, tearing you away from your harsh thoughts and throwing you into a restless sleep until your mother called you for your dreaded breakfast.
