It had been about a week since the incident. The incident - where Bakugo kissed you, and completely cut you out of his life in every way. He never spoke to you, never teased you or even yelled at you. One time you accidentally toppled over him as you turned a corner, it was a similar situation to when he fall onto you in your attempt to stop him from harming Midoriya, except the roles were reversed. He simply got up after you moved away frantically, and pushed past by only muttering the words, "Watch where you're going. "
He was his normal loud self, except with you, whom he just ignored mostly.
It was hard for you, especially considering how much you thought about the kiss. You craved more of him, everything about him was like a catchy song stuck in your head that you just couldn't shake off. Everything reminded you of him: the yellowness of the sun, the spikiness of the grass, the way he used to burn your homework, everything. But slowly, it started to become more bearable.
Today was a warm day, even as the sun started to set and the cooling nighttime wind didn't dull the burning hot ground and dry air, every student, tired and lazy, started walking home. That included your classmates, Midoriya and Bakugo, but not you. Instead of walking forward towards the school entrance, you took a sharp left then another sharp left, making your way towards the back of the building. The courtyard was there, along with a tall raven-haired male in a similar coloured jumpsuit. His arms were crossed with his head down.
You picked the pace and began jogging towards him, you stopped, panting slightly.
He looked up at you as you controlled your breathing, "Good afternoon, Sensei! " you puffed.
" Afternoon, are you ready to begin training? "
" Y-Yes! Thank you so much for doing this for me. "
" Let's begin then. "
He moved over, revealing three dummies made of straw and cloth perched on the ground.
" You will begin by using your powers to explode these dummies. "
You gasped loudly, taking a couple of steps back in the process," But sensei! That's... We haven't even begun exercises, this is extremely dangerous! I can't control my quirk at all, it could slip, it could blow up the school or kill you! "
" I know what you are saying is true, but that is exactly why we're doing it. You need to realise the pressure that is on your shoulders at this moment. "
He pointed his finger at you as he spoke," every student and teacher who lives in that building is in your hands. If you let your quirk slip, it will be your own doing. Under any circumstances, you can't let your quirk slip. If you do, hundreds will die. "
Your heart hammered against your ribs and it felt as if you breathed ice, suddenly the wide-open field felt like a stage with millions watching and judging your every move. One wrong step and it was all over.
Breath hitching, your feet remained stuck to the ground and ice-cold sweat ran along your skin. Everything felt so close to you, too close, as if you were buried alive.
A snapping of fingers brought your attention to the hand which rested meer inches away, Aizawa now stood in front of you, snapping his fingers repeatedly, "Oi, snap out of it. Stop over-thinking and just do it."
You blinked and turned to the dummies, every instinct told you not to but as much as you usually trusted your gut, today you ignored its dread.
Aizawa walked over to his spot: a good few miles away, yet close enough for you to see him in detail. He watched patiently with his arms crossed.
You chewed your nails profusely, your legs already trembling, even Aizawa noticed it from afar.
After completing multiple rounds of breathing exercises, you were calm - to an extent.
The dummies stared at you, almost in a taunting manner, like they knew you weren't brave enough to do it. You gulped hard.
All my life... All my life I have lived in fear of my powers, but not anymore. I will do whatever I can in my will to protect the ones I love! I need to do this, I need to!
You gripped your hand hard, and focused intently on the dummies, your mind burning.
Now focus, focus only on the dummies. Nothing else exists, just explode the dummies. Come on! Come on! Come on!
You grid your teeth, biting down so hard your jaw hurt. Your hands dug into your palms, you lifted them towards the dummies in an attempt to somehow command your powers. Sweat dripped off your skin as all you did for the next three hours was try to destroy these dummies.
Finally, a hand rested on your shoulder, a hand not as heavy as All-Mights but firm enough to assert its authority.
"That's enough, (L/N)."
You turn to Aizawa, your body shaking from the amount of pressure your body had been under for so long, his expression soften, but barely noticeable.
"But I-"
"That was the best you can do, for now. We can't achieve everything instantly. It takes time patience and will, we will meet back here tomorrow at the same time and do it again. Understood?"
"Yes sir..."
He left, but you didn't, you stood in the same spot, feelings of frustration boiling to your skin.
Dammit, dammit, Goddammit, I'm sixteen years old and I can't even control my stupid quirk, I'm so pathetic. Why can't I just explode some stupid dummies!?
Your eyes glared a steering hot hatred towards the dummies, a hot emotion of fatigue, frustration and hatred
night had already rolled in, the air-cooled and the crickets chirped rhythmically. Guilt gripped your heart, blaming yourself profusely for being so weak.
"Stupid..." You insulted yourself quietly, walking alone down the street felt eerie, suddenly the dread clumped in your stomach as you felt like someone was watching you.
You paused, your heart hammering even though nothing should have caused it, except the dread.
You took a swift turn and headed towards the train station, deciding to trust your instincts and take a different route.
It takes longer by train, but I'm not going to risk anything...
You entered the station, already feeling relieved to leave the area.
There's been more criminal activity lately... I'm glad I trusted my instincts.
You stood by the platform, it was empty except for you, you glanced around.
You sighed, feeling alone enough to begin talking to yourself, "I wish this stupid quirk would go away..."
"It all feels like too much... Maybe I should give up on being a hero, my quirk is obviously too dangerous, but..."
The image of young Bakugo flashed in your mind, your heart warm at the memory, " I just... Can't."
"That sounds like some pretty rough stuff."
You yelp and jumped away at the voice, it was right behind you and you hadn't even noticed, you turn around to confront the stranger.
Shocked by who you meet.
