"Hey, Izuku-kun! Did you hear about that tragedy with the train on Friday?"
Uraraka's voice was unmistakable to Izuku because every time he heard her chimed voice, his face felt hot and his heart started racing.
"Uraraka-chan!"
"It's awful that something like that happened to one of our grade mates! I hope they're okay!"
"It was discussed in the morning news that the offenders are both in stable condition," Lida spoke, entering the conversion.
Midoriya's thoughts wandered into a dreadful vision. That grade mate sounded a lot like (Y/N)... The idea of her having to battle those monsters alone and deal with her quirk slip would be traumatic, he prayed desperately that his gut was wrong.
"I wonder if our grade mate will get in trouble because of their quirk slip..."
"If they do get in trouble it will probably be a small punishment, they did do it in self-defense after all."
"Good Morning!" A delicate and sweet voice spoke in sing-song.
"(Y/N)-chan!" A small wave washed over Midoriya as he witnessed her light cheerful attitude, completely normal and unaffected. Solving his worries in an instant.
"How were everyone's weekends?"
"My family went to that new cleaned-up beach, Ahhh... it was so nice.." Uraraka sighed dreamily, you notice Midoriya fidgeting shyly.
" My family had to help with the train wreck and they let me help, it was nice being able to assist."
"(Y/N)-chan, are you okay? Did the train incident upset you? I saw you tense up there." Uraraka spoke gently.
"Huh? Oh... yeah! Yeah! I'm okay...it was upsetting to hear that happened..."
"Yeah! I can't imagine that poor student who had to witness it..."
"Uh... Midoriya?..."
Midoriya froze now, he watched (Y/N) with intent, it was unmistakable now.
It's always been a known fact that He and (Y/N) were very good at sensing when something was wrong with each other, whether it be from body language or tone of voice that always could tell if something was wrong. Midoriya knew (that Y/N) was always sensitive in that regard. He remembers how she could always tell when something bad was going to happen, or if one of her friends was in distress, sometimes he saw her as physic in some way, but he knew she just had a good instinct. Before he discovered her true quirk, he always thought of her instincts as her quirk in a way.
But today, Midoriya had the instinct. From the moment he looked at her shaken eyes it all lined up: the similarity in quirk, the location, that seemingly discreet cut hidden by her hair, that bandage slightly poking out from her blazer, her tired eyes hiding no emotion. It was crystal clear to him now. He could see it clear as day. (Y/N) was the student on that train and as soon as that realization sunk in, it felt as if his heart crumbled.
"Izukuuu?"
"Hm!"
(Y/N)'s smile seemed so genuine at that moment for anyone, but that only shattered Midoriya's heart more, because he knew it was all a lie.
"You alright? It looked like you were in some kind of trance."
"I...just realized I forgot to finish that math homework!"
"Izuku-kun! You had the whole weekend to complete it!"
"I'll help you finish it Izuku," Lida spoke.
"Thanks for the offer but it's okay. I'll just go do it at lunch."
"If you say so."
"Come on guys! Let's go hang out in the cafeteria, I want a strawberry milkshake!"
It's all so normal. Everything seemed so normal.
(Y/N)'s perspective
They brought it at least, as far as they know, I am perfectly fine and had a completely normal weekend. I'm okay. They... Are okay?
You continued to walk down the hall, and the voices of your friends grew blurred and distant. It felt as if you saw the world through grey, everyone's faces seemed blurred and unidentifiable. But at least, your friends weren't worried and for you, that was the closest thing to happiness that you could feel, even if it wasn't any feeling at all.
"Hey (Y/N)-chan! What did you do this weekend?"
"Hm? Me? Oh... Uh... I... I didn't do much, I just stayed at home." You forced a slight chuckle at the end, hoping your lie was enough to be believable.
"Huh? Really? That's not very exciting! How about we all visit the mall next weekend then? Together!"
"Yeah, maybe." You smiled. Another lie.
"Definitely (Y/N)-chan! We'll have so much fun! Izuku and Lida can join! Maybe even some of our other classmates! We can go shopping and watch movies and-"
Uraraka's voice became muffled as you felt dizziness quickly cloud your mind, your heart was in your throat. The halls quickly blurred in and out of focus and as if you were trapped in a nightmare did images of blood splatter flicker, it felt too real to be a hallucination though, as if you were flickering in and out of two separate planes, the once clean and tall walls flickered splatters of blood and the muffled scream of the black-haired man slowly crawled into your ears and seeped to your brain.
"Y---...."
"(Y/N----..."
"(Y/N)-ch....."
"(Y/N)-Chan!"
"Huh?!"
"(Y/N)-chan!" Uraraka voiced, "are you okay?"
"Y-yeah, I just... I just need to use the-"
Your words couldn't even come out before the feeling of vomit began to rise into your throat.
You ran, ignoring the calls of your friends and rushing into the nearest bathroom. Not even reaching a toilet in time, you only managed to reach the sink before spewing whatever little contents of your stomach down the drain mostly bile.
Your mind still flickering between the bloody visions and reality, sweat covered your entire body but you felt deathly cold. You ran the taps to block the sounds of your panting as well as wash down whatever bile was left. You rinsed your mouth and washed your face but a sudden voice made you jump.
"Hey, you're in the wrong bathroom."
You swirled around to meet the familiar blond hair of your rival.
"I said, you're in the wrong bathroom," Bakugo repeated, only this time more aggressive.
He's nothing to you, he is below you, show him. Show him.
"I heard you." You growled back, turned your heel, and pushed passed him and out of the bathroom.
He seemed taken aback by your lack of submission. And only stood thinking of what just happened.
