"Hey Nini" Gina approached the brunette girl nervously not knowing how to word what she was about to say.

She didn't know what happened with her and her best friend. She never felt nervous to talk to her best friend until today. Conversation between the two always flowed so naturally, but somehow she was nervous.

"Oh hey Gi" Nini smiled as her best friend approached her locker. She was hoping that Gina didn't bring up the day before because their entire conversation was a trainwreck.

"Uh Nini I really want to talk to you and it's kind of important so I don't want to talk about it here. Can you come over after school"

"Um I actually have a doctors appointment after school, but I can come over after" Nini said. She knew that her and Gina needed to spend time together, after the last few weeks of Nini blowing her off to study, just to get distracted by Ricky coming over.

The truth was that Nini felt guilty when she was with Gina. Gina was an amazing best friend to her, yet she felt like she was constantly betraying her by being with Ricky.

The thing that made the situation so hard is that Ricky made her genuinely happy, and she knew that Gina would never approve of the two of them together.

"Okay, I'll see you then Ni" Gina offered Nini as small closed lip smile before heading off to meet Ej at his locker.

After Gina left, Nini was met with Ricky at her locker which was slightly out of the ordinary, but nothing too serious. People wouldn't think much of it due to the fact that he was her best friend's brother.

"So?" Ricky said as he walked up to Nini. He hated to admit that he was nervous but he was

"I got my period this morning, I'm not pregnant Ricky" Nini said quietly insuring that nobody heard her. She held a neutral expression on her face but Ricky could tell that something was bothering her.

"Aren't you happy?"

"Yeah I'm happy, it's just. I don't know what's wrong with me. I'm still super tired and I've been feeling nauseous all morning"

"I wish I could pull you into my arms right now, and hold you tightly" Ricky sighed knowing that the gesture would be way too risky "but everything will be okay Neens." Ricky told the girl reassuringly and she smiled at the use of the nickname he had given her

"You have a doctors appointment after school right?" He asked her and she nodded "do you want me to come with you?"

"No, it'll look too weird if we were both gone and came back at the same time. I told Gina that I would come over after my doctors appointment so I'll just tell you what's going on then"

"Okay, try not to let this ruin your day though Neens" Ricky said and Nini nodded in response "promise me"

"I promise Ricky" she said with a laugh

"Good" he said and fought the urge to place a kiss on top of her head. The whole keeping them a secret thing was becoming hard for Ricky but if that's what Nini wanted then he'd do it for her. "I'll see you later Neens" he said and she nodded before he walked off.

Nini let out a sigh trying not to stress about what the doctor would tell her later on. She was hoping there was nothing serious wrong but she couldn't be one hundred percent sure, which was what worried her.

Nini took a deep breath as she walked into the doctors office. She signed in with the front desk and took a seat filling out the necessary paperwork.

After about 30 minutes Nini's name was finally called, and she headed to the back along with the nurse where all of her vitals were taken.

"The doctor will be with you shortly" the nurse said before editing the room.

Nini nodded her head with a closed lip smile before taking a deep breath wishing she'd said yes when Ricky asked if she wanted him to come with her.

She knew it would be better if she received bad news with someone else there.

"Hello there Nina, how are you doing today?" Doctor Blake said as she entered the room taking a seat.

"Not too good" Nini chuckled sadly

"Tell me a little bit of what's wrong and we'll see what we can do to help you" Doctor told Nini as she brought out a pen and a pad to take notes ensuring that she didn't miss anything Nini said.

"Well I've been really tired for a long time, like more tired than I've ever been before. At first I pushed it off as stress from school but now I think it may be something more"

"And why do you feel like it's something more now?"

"Well about two nights ago I threw up in the middle of the night which is so unlike me. Usually when I get sick I don't throw up so this was super alarming to me. I also noticed that my period was 2 weeks late"

"Well Nina these sound like pregnancy symptoms—"

"That's what I thought too! So I took a test yesterday and it came out negative. I also took one this morning which also came out negative, and I got my period shortly after my took the second test so that kinda ruled out pregnancy for me"

"Alright, and how do you feel right now?"

"Still super tired. That hasn't changed , and I've also been feeling nauseous all day" Nini told the doctor honestly.

"Well Nina to me it sounds like you have the stomach flu. Have you been having cramps of any kind? Or pain in the stomach?"

"Here and there but it's nothing I couldn't handle."

"Alright, yes it sounds like you have the stomach flu Nina. This would explain the nausea, vomiting, and the cramping pain you're having. Most of the time when you're stressed it can cause your period to delay, you said you've been really stressed from school right?" Doctor Blake asked and Nini nodded "so I believe that's why your period has been late, and you've been feeling tired. Try to give yourself sometime to rest"

"Okay, is there anything you can do for the nausea?"

"Yes, I'm going to prescribe you some Antibiotics to help with that, and your stomach flu"

"Okay thank you so much" Nini smiled at the doctor, and doctor Blake wrote the prescription before handing it to Nini and giving her the ok to leave
