"Ricky you have to come out at some point" Gina knocked on the door sadly. It'd been a week between the breakup with Nini and he only came out of his room for necessities like food and water.

Gina was really starting to worry about him because there was obviously something wrong. This was extremely out of character for Ricky and she couldn't figure out what was wrong.

"Just leave me alone Gina. I'm fine" Ricky called out weakly. He buried himself in covers with one thing on his mind. Nini.

He blamed himself for the breakup. Maybe if he hadn't been with so many girls before, all of this could've been avoided.

He just couldn't put his finger on how they found out about the two of them. They'd been extra careful and the only times they'd really been together was either at her house, at his house when Gina wasn't there, and on the party boat.

How were so many people finding out about the two of them being together and if so many people knew, how did Gina not know yet?

"Ricky you're not fine. This isn't like you to just keep yourself locked up like this for an entire week. You're acting like you've gotten your heart broken or something but I know that's not the case because in your words "Ricky Bowen doesn't catch feelings" so what's going on?" Gina asked through the door.

Ricky did say that. He said that constantly before he realized how strong his feelings for Nini really were. He never knew that his sister's best friend would make him fall so hard.

"Gina I told you I'm fine! Just leave" Ricky called out and Gina sighed before stepping away from the door.

She went back in her room and found Nini reading a book called Scars of Insecurity.

After the breakup Nini went about her regular life keeping her mind off of what'd happened. She came over to hang with Gina just about everyday like old times, but that did nothing but torture Ricky, knowing that she was so close and he couldn't touch her or kiss her.

What worried him is that she didn't seem hurt at all. He knew Nini like the back of his hand and she was normally such an emotional person so it didn't make sense that she simply went back to normal while he was an emotional wreck in his room.

He'd convinced himself that it was to protect her and it'd all be worth it in the end. This person had something on Nini that could destroy her, and he couldn't let that happen to her.

It'd ruin the rest of her life in high school and she still had an entire year left. He couldn't let that happen, so until he could get everything handled they had to be apart.

"What's that book about Nini?"

"Well there's this girl and her name is Nora. She had a pretty bad and traumatic upbringing. Her mom was super abusive. That's until she got adopted by her neighbours and placed into a caring home. After she's taken out of her mothers care she's still drawn back to her past because of the scars that her mother left. She's pretty quiet unless she's comfortable with you but she warms up to this boy named Ralph pretty quickly and they fall in love. It's super cute"

"That sound depressing" Gina said as she sat on her bed crossing her legs criss cross apple sauce

"It is on some parts but it's a cute love story. You can tell how much Ralph loves Nora."

"Speaking of love stories" Gina smirked "we still gotta get you a boyfriend ni"

"I don't think I'm ready anymore Gi. I really wanna focus on myself and school right now. I don't know if I can really balance a relationship right now" Nini said hoping Gina would drop the topic.
