Ricky laid in his bed throwing his basketball in the air trying to pass time. He was waiting for Nini to text him, and let him know that she was done with her shift and ready for him to come and pick her up.
Eventually Ricky's phone rang taking him out of his thoughts. He raised an eyebrow when he saw that it was Gina's contact that showed up on the screen.
"Look who finally decided to come to her senses" Ricky said answering the phone but was met with silence on the other end. "Gi?"
"R-Ricky I-I-" Gina stuttered. It was obvious that she'd been crying and she was completely distraught
"Gina what's going on. Talk to me"
"I-I"
"Gina!" Ricky exclaimed not able to wait anymore
"I-I don't know -h-how to say t-this"
"Just say it Gina!" Ricky raised his voice slightly startling the girl on the other side of the phone.
"Nini s-she she got hit by a car. She's in critical condition Ricky" Gina cried on the other side of the phone.
Ricky's heart stopped and the phone immediately fell at the sound of what the girl said on the other side of the phone.
"Ricky? Ricky!?" The girl called out but the boy didn't answer.
Gina sighed before hanging up the phone realizing he probably wouldn't be able to talk for a while. She texted him the address before walking up to the front desk.
"D-do you know when I'll be able to see Nini Salazar Roberts."
"The doctor hasn't given me any word. I'm sorry" the receptionist replied and Gina nodded sadly heading back to her seat.
"Were you able to contact her parents?" The receptionist asked the girl
"Uh no" Gina sniffled wiping the tears that filled her cheeks. "I probably won't be able to for a while. They're super busy with meetings and stuff" Gina said, and the receptionist nodded sending her a sad smile.

"Where is she!?" Ricky bursted through the hospital doors with only one thing on his mind.
All he wanted to know was if Nini was okay. He couldn't rest until he knew that she was okay.
"Ricky calm down" Gina told her brother
"Calm down!? My girlfriend is in critical condition and you want me to calm down!" Ricky yelled at his sister slightly scaring her.
She'd never heard Ricky yell before. He was always so laid back and care free. This was an entirely new side of Ricky that she'd never seen before.
"Causing a scene in this hospital is not gonna make any difference. Nini is hurt either way Ricky, and there's nothing we can do now, but be here for her. So you either calm down and take a seat, or get kicked out of this hospital! You choose" Gina said , and Ricky nodded realizing that she was right.
He took the seat across from her and held his head in his hands. He hated the thought of people seeing him cry in public, but the thought of Nini hurt, and in critical condition took over.
"How did this happen?" Ricky whispered.
"They said the car came out of nowhere. There's nothing anyone could've done" Gina answered
"They?"
"Her coworkers. Apparently they were on their way to get something to eat, and when she stepped out into the street the car—"
"I should've stayed. I should've stayed like my mind told me to"
"You can't blame yourself for this Ricky."Gina shook her head with tears in her eyes "there's no way you, or anyone else could've known this would happen"
"You don't understand Gi. I promised her, I promise that I'd protect her. That I'd always be here for her, and I failed her"
"You didn't fail her" Gina moved to the seat next to the boy. "You're here now aren't you? You're here for her when she needs you most. That's what matters" she told him
"Is Nini okay? What's going on?" Kourtney and Ashlyn rushed into the hospital
"Anyone here for Nina Salazar Roberts?" The doctor called out and the 4 teens rushed up to him hoping to hear good news on her condition.
"How is she?" Ricky asked. His voice cracked slightly and his eyes were bloodshot red and puffy.
"We'll have to continue to monitoring her for the next few days. Things are looking ok as of right now, but there's a huge possibility that things will take a turn for the worst."
The four teens didn't know whether to take this as good or bad news.
"C-can we see her?" Ricky asked
"Yes you can, but only one at a time" the doctor said before walking off.
"You go ahead Ricky" Gina said and the boy nodded heading into Nini's room.
He took a breath to brace himself for what exactly he was about to see.
He walked into the room hearing the sounds of machines beep. It broke his heart to know that those machines were attached to his girlfriend.
She had her one of her legs propped up wrapped in a cast, and she had scratches covered all over her face.
"Nini" the boy cried as he took a seat next to her. "I really didn't wanna cry like this" he chuckled slightly "but I can't help but to feel like I failed you. I was supposed to protect you no matter what, and now here you are in the hospital. I know you'll pull through though. You have to, because I can't do this without you. I cant function without you. I love you so much" Ricky told the girl hoping she'd have some sort of reaction but there was nothing.
"Who would do this to you?" He asked, and was taken out of his thoughts by a vibration.
Sitting on the hospital bed next to her was her phone. When he saw the text she received anger filled his body. Anger that he couldn't control

Threatening her was one thing, but physically hurting her was another. Now, this was personal, and Ricky wasn't gonna let them just get away with this
