Summary: SCP-140 is a hardcopy book with an unknown number of pages, yet far more than the book should be able to contain. 140 is missing its book jacket, but the title: "A Chronicle of the Daevas" is legible. The author of 140 signed the inside cover, but their name is illegible. While reading 140, subjects will develop feelings of paranoia, unease, and nausea, but whether this is an anomalous effect the book possesses, or just a product of reading its contents, is up for debate. All readers of 140 describe it as fascinating, and always express continued interest in reading it. Certain readers say 140 smells of dried blood. 140 contains a detailed account of an ancient civilization known as the Daevites. Throughout the decades, the Daevites practiced militarism, conquest, ancestral worship, slave/ruling classes, gruesome human sacrifice, and successful magical rituals, used to create relics/creatures dangerous and abnormal enough to be classified as SCPs themselves. When 140 comes into contact with any liquid that can be used to legibly write, though human blood works the best, the history of the Daevites expands, rewriting real-life history in the process, however sometimes the changes to the book only expand upon already written subjects. No matter what ended the Daevite civilization previously, the changes made to the book bring them back, changing utter defeats into minor setbacks, inserting new people/events, and creating corresponding artifacts that appear at dig sites, even previously explored ones, seemingly out of thin air. The Daevites almost always practiced imperialism, ruled by a cannibalistic/magical/religious/noble/nigh-immortal class referred to at the daevas. The daevas are considered a subspecies of humans, according to facts brought about by 140 itself about the appearances/characteristics of the daevas. 140-A refers to the author/publisher of 140 and its equally anomalous copies still in circulation. Attempts to track 140-A down have been unsuccessful, however they are heavily referenced in 140, so their connection to the Daevites is confirmed. 140 can be classified as a primary source, as its level of detail is unparalleled, and seems to be written based on firsthand experience with the Daevites. The danger of this SCP is obvious. Should the Daevites be written into modern history it could spell the end of society as we know it. As it stands now, the Daevites were wiped out by Genghis Khan, though the fates of several important persons/cities remain ambiguous. After Incident 140e, 140-1 and 140-2 were discovered, leading to over 100 casualties. -1 was neutralized, while -2 remains at large. Descriptions of -1 and -2 are classified.

Usefulness: Extremely useful for the Daevites, which is why under no circumstances should it ever be allowed to fall into their hands. Uses for the Foundation include informing us about restructuring events, where another copy of 140 is utilized to change history.

Against 682: Not a chance in hell this is going anywhere near 682.
