Summary: SCP-145 is a cordless phone handset with an accompanying charging base. Said charging base has had its jack inputs sealed with resin and its power input has been gouged out. No serial number/production date can be found, as all identifying stickers have been defaced beyond recognition. 144 constantly rings and is impossible to take apart without risk of damaging it. When answered, a panicked female voice will plead with the listener for help as she describes various torturous acts conducted on unknown victims. In the background, sounds of violence, pain, and anguish can be heard. The caller is, by all accounts, sentient. Attempts to trace the call, block the signal, or locate the victims in any way have all failed. Answering the phone without live outside supervision results in the listener vanishing without a trace. Not even video recordings have been able to pick up what happens, as the listener disappears between frames. Vanished subjects join the group of tortured individuals, as evidenced by voice recognition software. Any attempts at self-defense have all ended in the subjects' weapons of choice being used to torture them. This includes explosives, such as in one test where [DATA EXPUNGED] causing several SCP personnel to disappear and a sitewide containment breach.
Usefulness: Not useful at this time, and I don't see how it'd become useful.
Against 682: Tricking 682 into answering the phone could work, but he'd most likely cause something worse than the "explosives incident" to occur. 682 just has a way of fucking things up for us.
