Chapter Eighteen

Aiden was awoken by loud knocking at the front door. He groans, peeling himself away from Cayden's grip and turns to the small intercom screen on the wall.

"Jake? Do you know what time it is?"

Jake waved at the camera.

"Let me in"

He sighs and heads downstairs. He opens the door and sneezes as cold wind blew inside.

Jake dusted off his coat and sighed.

"I have something to ask you"

Aiden glances at the clock mounted on the wall.

"Jake it's 3:12am, couldn't this wait?"

"No.....I'm sorry"

"It's okay, follow me"

They head inside the kitchen. Aiden plugs the kettle and places mugs on the counter. Jake speaks up,

"Matt is an orphan"

Aiden turns to face his little brother.

"....and?"

"He had nowhere to go for the weekend. When we talked earlier some words slipped out and now i feel bad"

"You're kidding right? Instead of talking to him, you're here disturbing my last hours of sleep for the week"

"Aiden I'm serious, i feel bad"

He crosses his arms.

"Well, what did you say?"

"I said that's what you get for not going home"

Aiden massaged the bridge of his nose, sighing in frustration.

"Did he pause after you said that?"

"No"

"Did he stop talking to you for the rest of the day?"

"No"

"Then stop feeling bad. I'm sure he didn't even hear you while he made googoo eyes at you through the phone"

Jake sighed. He still felt bad though. Aiden then added,

"Make it up to him. Buy him a gift, bake a cake, make out i don't know"

Jake smiled at his brother.

"You're the best you know"

"Yeah yeah, drink your cocoa while i get ready for work early because some parasite was overthinking"

Jake stuck his tongue out.

"You know you love me"

"Yeah yeah"

They all waved goodbye as the cab drove Jake away, The teen was waving a white handkerchief out the window dramatically.

"Love you guys!"

"Love you too! Don't forget to keep warm! And wear your mittens!"

"Mom he's already gone" Aiden says. Jade sighed.

"I'm sure he heard me though. Now, who wants breakfast?"

Aiden glanced at his wrist watch and sighed.

"Can't, running late. I'll see you later Cayden" he says and gives the man a long deep kiss, once they pulled away Cayden was feeling breathless.

"Looks like it's just you and me Cayden. Do you still like mixing jam and margarine on your toast?"

Cayden smiled as he followed Jade inside her house.

"Yeah"

"Good, we can eat as many as we want"

"Are you taking any meds?"

"No"

He sighed and examined the chart.

"I see. Nurse, administor the Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid vaccine"

"Yes doctor"

Aiden sighed as he went to change his scrubs for the third time this morning.

"You look happy"

He turns and sees Nithya standing before an open locker. She steps back and turns towards his direction, her black bra showing. He sighs.

"I thought you said we'd be friends again, why do I have a feeling you're planning something"

She gives him a coy smile and pulls her shirt on.

"I have nothing planned. And as for us being friends, i doubt it can happen. You and I had sex, you can't change that"

"And you clearly need to move on"

She scoffs and grabs her belongings.

"Do you love him?"

"Yes"

"Hm... must be nice"

Cayden placed the laptop on the bed and sat down with his legs crossed. He begins to type,

The results pop up and he blushes. So Aiden liked this sort of thing?

"Aiden certainly has changed" he whispers. He comes across an ad about a BDSM beginners kit. He immediately buys it.

"Same day delivery, lucky me" he whispers.

His phone buzzes and he sees it was Aiden who was calling. He immediately picks up.

"Hey"

"Hi....how's work?"

"Very busy as usual. Did you eat?"

"Mhm...I'm now on the internet"

"Okay, I'll be back during lunch time. Do you want to go somewhere?"

He glances at the laptop screen, his package was going to be here in two hours so he had time.

"Let's stay home....I can make you lunch"

"Alright, see you soon babe"

"Yeah"

The call ends and he chews on his bottom lip. Was he really going to pull this off?

"That's the last time I'm helping out in the ER" he grumbles as he marches his way to his office. It was almost lunchtime which also meant the end of his shift.

He sees his father laying on the couch.

"What happened? Your couch too boring?" He teases. Tucker sat up and smiled.

"Just wanted to check on you...Jake told me about the talk you had with him this morning....i appreciate it"

He waves him off.

"Don't worry about it"

His phone then buzzes. He looks at the screen and sees that Cayden had sent a photo.

"All I'm saying is you're a good brother. Aiden? Are you still with me?' Tucker asked.

Aiden was too occupied to answer him. His attention was focused on this picture  of Cayden.

He was in the bathroom, wearing furry cat ears and a red rope around every limb of his body.

"Oh my God...."

"What? What happened?" Tucker asked leaning in.

Before the man could catch a glimpse, Aiden hid his phone.

" i have to go, see you later"

Tucker watched his son practically run off. He scratched his head.

"What was on that phone?"
