Chapter Twenty

"Cayden?"

"..."

"Cayden"

"..."

He gently taps him on the shoudler. Cayden whips his head to the left.

"Yeah?"

Aiden sighed.

"I'm going to work. What will you do all day?"

The man points to a large box by the door.

"I bought a white board, I'll be in an online class"

"Oh....have fun" he says and leans in for a kiss. Cayden didn't notice as he turns his attention back to his textbook.

"Don't leave the house okay? I'll be back at 2pm"

"Okay"

He walks out and stops by the door. Something was off about Cayden. He seemed, different. Could it be that the man was too focused?

Jaxon sat in the car, tapping the wheel with his fingers as he waited for the door of the shelter to open.

A man comes out wearing a bright green beanie and scarf. The black coat and pants completed the look, it was Luis. Jaxon steps out, rushing towards the man.

"Hi there"

Luis waved at him and walked off. Jaxon pouts.

"Maybe he's shy..."

He turns around and follows Luis.

"So....where you heading to?"

"The supermarket. Sandy ran out of detergent"

"Mind if I come along?"

Luis stops and turns to face him.

"Do I know you?"

"Uh...no"

"Do I owe you money?"

"No"

"Then what the fuck you want?"

"Oh uhm....uh....I wanted to be friends"

Luis eyes Jaxon up and down. The man was wearing a long brown coat and thick brown gloves.

"What are you a cop or something?"

Jaxon shook his head.

"I own a cafe....i make pies"

"Oh....you're a sissy"

He frowns.

"No I'm not"

"Yeah? Whose van is that?" He asks pointing to the black van, it had a pride sticker on the bumper. Jaxon sighed.

"Okay fine I'm gay but that doesn't mean we can't be friends"

Luis shook his head. He takes a rolled blunt out of his pocket and burns it taking a long drag.

"You burn?" He asks pointing at the blunt.

"Occasionally....why?"

Then Luis grabs his hand.

"Follow me"

Tucker sighed.

"Son he's a level 1 ASD patient. He's going to have off days. Now put yourself in his shoes, he probably woke up confused this morning but decided to keep it to himself, why? Because he didn't want to stress you out. Go home, have someone take over your shift"
