1.2 Secret Schemes

That night both Rae and Sykkuno had difficulties sleeping, they laid awake in bed for hours with their minds racing. Everyone always said that they shared a brain cell and right now all that brain cell was saying was "Do I like Sykkuno/Rae?". However, this was not a question that could be answered on this night so they both gave in and pulled their covers over their warm bodies as they sunk into their soft, comfortable, fluffy mattresses and closed their eyes as they fell into a deep slumber. Sykkuno had managed to sleep quite easily and forgot about his worries for the night but it was not so easy for Rae as she was plagued by the most vivid dreams.

(Dream State) (Rae POV)

She dreamt of Sykkuno (obviously), at first she was having the most pleasant and happy dream she'd had in a while but it eventually became sour, she dreamt that she was doing a cooking stream with Sykkuno. Just Sykkuno. They had decided that they were going to bake cakes for the other to eat so Sykkuno had chosen to do a beautiful Victoria Sponge cake (they are so f*cking goooood) in the shape of a heart "I didn't know Sykkuno was such an incredibly talented baker.", she thought, while Rae decided on making Gourmet cupcakes. She made enough for 12 and decided to letter each one to spell out "MY BEST FRIEND", she used a different food colouring for each at first using 'RoyGBiv' for the rainbow then adding black, white, brown and then black and white again. Rae glanced over to Sykkunos cake and saw that he was applying the buttercream to the top of the cake and he was also lettering it on the top yet she couldn't see what he was writing, as they both finished they decided to cover their cakes with dishcloths so that they could have a suspenseful reveal. Rae took it upon herself to reveal her cakes first as she swiftly removed the cloth revealing the beautifully crafted cupcakes that read out "MY BEST FRIEND", Sykkuno looked at the cakes and looked back at her, while she was expecting to see a smile of appreciation she was met with a cold stare and a frown.

Rae: "Sykk? What's wrong? Don't you like my cake I made for you, my best friend?"

Sykk: "Oh no Rae. It's nice and I love them but....."

Rae: "But what Sykk?"

And with that Sykkuno revealed his cake, it was a beautiful Victoria Sponge in the shape of a heart that had been carefully decorated with buttercream and raspberry jam, Rae's favourite, she smiled at him in awe.

Rae: "Wow you're really putting me to shame huh Sykk? No wonder you look so disappointed at mine."

Sykk: "So? What do you think?"

Rae: "What do I think about what? Your cake? I love it Sykk?"

Sykk: "No Rae, look again..."

As Sykkuno says this Rae looks back to the cake and remembers that there was lettering on it. She reads it aloud:

Rae: "I love you, Rae!"

Rae: "Sykk? You love me?"

Sykk: "I do Rae, I love you more than anything in the entire universe, I love you more than my parents, I love you more than I love frozen pop tarts and yes, I love you more than I love Bimbus."

Sykkuno paused for a brief moment before continuing on.

Sykk: "D-do y-you love me?"

After hearing this Rae started blushing uncontrollably as she looked at the ground only to see Sykkuno had no feet, then he had no kneecaps and he continued to fade out of existence until his neck started to disappear. Realising that she was running out of time, she began to say:

Rae: "I.......I....I-I l-lo-"

She knew she was running out of time so she pulled Sykkuno in for a quick kiss and swiftly parted with him, his last words were:
