6:30pm 11th July 2021 (Sykkuno POV)

Sykkuno: "Babe! I'm home!" I yelled, locking the door behind me, carrying the groceries.

I got no response but I heard water running upstairs so I assumed Richie was in the shower, I continued through the hallway into the kitchen as I set down the bags onto the counter and started removing the ingredients for dinner, once they were all laid out in front of me I started chopping and dicing the vegetables. I began with the onions, dicing them after washing them, into miniscule pieces and moving them to the side of the chopping board, I then filled a saucepan with frozen peas and sweetcorn and added a couple hundred millilitres of boiling water before placing it on the stove on a medium-ish heat, while I let the peas and sweetcorn boil, I removed the mincemeat from it's packaging and squashed it up into a ball and rolled it out with a rolling pin. I grabbed the finely diced onions and spread a few onto the rolled out mincemeat then folded it over, enclosing the onions in the meat, I repeated this three more times until I had four 4 homemade burger patties, ready to be cooked.

By the time I had finished making the patties the peas and sweetcorn were finished boiling so I poured them into a colander, allowing the water to drain into the sink and I then transferred the vegetables into a bowl, covering it in plastic wrap as I left it on the side. Now that the stove was free I oiled up a frying pan and set it on the stove, keeping it on a medium heat just like the vegetables were and placed two of the beef patties onto it, once they were done on one side I flipped them over using a spatula and started cooking the other side until it appeared as if they were cooked, however, the secret to cooking a good steak is to keep cooking it even after it appears done as the insides will still be raw so I cooked it for another five minutes, flipping it occasionally until I thought they were done. I repeated this once again with the other two patties until they were all cooked, I placed the patties onto a cooling rack and grabbed the fancy buns that I had gotten last night from the breadbin, they were Richie's favourite, it had Italian herbs and cheese on it and they tasted pretty good. I removed the fries that I had placed in the oven before I went out and placed the tray they were in on the countertop.

Having prepared all the different ingredients for the meal I assembled them onto two fancy plates and moved them over to the dining table, I placed them onto the cabinet besides the table as I put a nice tablecloth over the oak table, I propped the plates down onto the table and took a step back to look at it. Something still felt off and then an incorporeal light bulb switched on over my head as I pulled some candles out from the cabinet and placed them around the table, I was looking for something to light the candles when I remembered that Richie's lighter was in his drawer upstairs in our bedroom, smoking was a habit of his that I tried to get him to quit many, many times but whenever I did he would throw a fit about it that usually ended up in me getting hurt in some way, the last time I tried to get him to quit he lighted a cigarette, smoked it and then stubbed it out on my shoulder. The scar was still visible after a couple months but he promised that he would never do it again as long as I don't ask him to quit again, not liking to think about those times, I quickly shook it off and ran to the bedroom past the bathroom where I could hear an indistinct feminine voice coming from inside.

As much as I wanted to join him in the shower I was more concerned with dinner because I was quite hungry so I continued into the bedroom where I saw some clothes that I didn't recognize spread across the bed, they clearly weren't Richie's clothes as I saw a skirt and some stockings and I know that Richie wasn't one for cross-dressing, he even went so far as to call cross-dressers abominations of nature. Because I was in a hurry, I discarded the thought of who's clothes those were as well as whose voices I could hear in the bathroom and I grabbed the lighter from the drawer and sprinted back down the stairs not wanting the food to get cold, using the lighter I lit the candles and dimmed the lights, I took a step back and performed a chef's kiss. Implementing the final touches I poured out the champagne into two separate wine glasses and placed them on coasters, on the table.
