3.2 Late Night Rendezvous

A/N: So I may have gone over the cap by 1700 words but I like this chapter so I guess it doesn't bother me much.

Rae had experienced quite an exhausting day thus far, what with visiting what would become her new home and unpacking the few boxes she had brought into her new room, only bringing a couple sets of clothes and some sheets, blankets and other things necessary for her bed and her comfort, on top of that, her mom was going on and on about how she couldn't wait to get married and become a real family, which didn't do much for Rae's concerns about entering... well, whatever she was doing with Thomas.

She also hadn't gotten to see Thomas much after coming to his home, he entered his room and stayed in there all the rest of the evening, which Rae honestly found slightly rude though she made at least half a dozen excuses as to why the cute guy she liked wasn't around to help the girl he called his Queen, the main one being that he must have been tidying his room for her arrival, that was one of her conditions after all, the room had to be absolutely spotless for her.

Now, Rae lied in her temporary bed awaiting a message from Thomas to give her the all-clear, allowing her to enter his room without their parents' intervention. Rae's makeshift bed was far from what you would call comfortable, it being a blown up air mattress with some raggedy blanket covering her body, it was not desirable at all but luckily for her, she and her mom were only staying the night, then they would only have one more week of school left before Christmas break in which time Rae and her mom will be fully moved in by the new year if all goes right.

*bzzzt*

After hearing a vibration from her phone which she had turned silent as to not alert her parents with the loud noise of her phone notifications, Rae unlocked her phone which had previously lied on her stomach and glanced at the time while opening her SMS app, noticing it was now officially midnight, the end of the current day as well as the start of a new one, or was it neither? Personally, Rae could never tell which day it was when the clock struck midnight, after all, she wasn't exactly the best math, in fact, she was failing horribly, unlike Thomas, who was a straight A student, but she didn't know that, not now at least.

Anyway, after opening her messages she noticed she had one new message from Thomas, as well as a bunch of them from her friends which she didn't feel like answering as of right now, but she definitely had all the time in the world to text with Thomas, literally endless time.

Thomas😘

Thomas: it's midnight

Thomas: my dad should be asleep now

Rae: same with my mom

Thomas: come thru

Thomas: my room is spotless and waiting for you

Rae: ok

Finishing their short conversation, Rae put her phone down, connecting it with the charger and peeling her gross blanket off of her. 'It's only temporary.' She thought, discarding her disgusting living situation for the night, knowing it'd be better by the end of the week. In her pink, somewhat girly pyjamas that contrasted her more boyish personality, she got up from her bed and stretched her back, letting out a sigh upon doing so, luckily Rae's scoliosis wasn't so terrible to the point where her back was seriously messed up, it was only a minor affliction that hardly affected Rae's day to day life whatsoever.
