2.6 Drinking To Forget

A/N: Sykkuno is the main character of this story but this chapter is mostly Rae's POV as I want to make it unclear on how exactly Sykkuno is feeling about everything that's happening. This may continue or not Idk.

12th July 2021 1:00pm (Sykkuno POV)

Richie: "Hello? Thomas?"

Sykkuno: *sighs* "What do you want?"

Richie: "I just want to talk..."

Sykkuno: "Then talk..." I spoke nervously.

Richie: "Not over the phone... Can we talk face to face?" He implored me.

Sykkuno: "I can't..."

Richie: "Why not!" He exclaimed raising his voice.

Sykkuno: "I'm in LA now... Staying with a friend..."

Richie: "Really! Which friend?" He interrogated, maintaining his previous volume.

Sykkuno: "And why do you need to know that?"

Richie: "Because! I need to-" He yelled.

Sykkuno: "Keep yelling and I'll hang up!" I threatened, not wanting to put up with his anger.

Richie: "You're right... I just need to make sure you're safe..." He said, lowering his voice.

Sykkuno: "Really? You want to know if I'm safe?" I questioned slightly raising my voice, but not too loud to where Rae can hear me.

Richie: "Yes! What do you mean by that?"

Sykkuno: "Well to answer your question Dick, I'm feeling much safer now that I'm with R- with my friend!"

Richie: "R? Who is R...? Wait a minute... Did you just call me Dick? You're with that slut aren't you!" He interrogated, returning to yelling.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing, how dare he talk about Rae in such a manner, Rae was no such thing! She was my best friend! And maybe something more...

Sykkuno: "Don't you dare call her that! She's been nothing but nice to me! Which is much more than I can say for you!" I yelled loudly, something that I rarely did.

Richie: "Oh she's been nice to you? Probably because she just wants to get in your pants!" He screamed back, matching my volume.

Sykkuno: "And what is that supposed to mean?"

Richie: "Oh don't deny it! She's always had a thing for you! She knows it! I know it! You've always been too blind to see it!"

Sykkuno: "She's helping me because she cares about me! Hell, do you even care? Did you ever?"

Richie: "I... I... I..." He stammered.

Sykkuno: "Did you mean it a single time whenever you gave me one of your bullsh- one of your excuses?" I questioned, infuriated at how he spoke about Rae.

Richie: "Of course I meant it! I love you!"

Sykkuno: "Well you clearly didn't love me enough!"

I had gotten so carried away with Richie and I's screaming match that I hadn't even noticed Rae standing in the doorway of the room, nervously biting her lips.

As I turned my attention towards her she swiftly pivoted to face away from me, embarrassed of listening in. I quickly muted my phone and called out to her, assuring her that it was okay.
