3.13 Blackmail

A/N: Hello! It's been a while huh? Well, I guess it's always a while with these long story chapters, but this break has been extra extra long, and I can't say that I'm ready to get straight back into things yet, it'll still be slow but I definitely want to start writing again, I just need to find a balance in my overall lifestyle right now.

And it doesn't help that I have hay fever right now, which is ridiculous considering I've never once in 17 years of my life had hay fever before (well I had it once a long time ago but that lasted a couple days), if you didn't know, both my parents are completely deaf, and one of the symptoms of hay fever is a blocked ear, so I keep getting incredibly paranoid that I'm just gonna turn deaf in one ear since I can barely hear.

*Future me talking* Wow, I just looked back through this story and with almost every single one of my beginning A/N's it says "it's been a while", that's all I ever say huh?

"J-Jeremy!?" Thomas exclaimed in shock, revealing the identity of the person who had been watching the entire time, the clicking sound being the sound of a picture taken from his phone, one thing's for sure, they were well and truly... fucked.

"Yep, that's me, oh hey! What are you guys doing here?" Jeremy greeted the two, then he acted surprised that the two were there, as if he hadn't just witnessed what he did, in reality he was playing coy with them to see what types of terrible excuses the couple would come up with, and Jeremy certainly got the reaction he was expecting.

Both Rae and Thomas' heads swivelled in each other's direction and their eyes darted to the other's as well, their jaws dropped and they both looked as if they were waiting for the other to speak first though neither did, so instead they both returned their gazes to Jeremy and started to speak in unison. "Well! We- we were just... we- uh..." "Save it, I already know all about your little escapades." Thomas and Rachel scrambled for what would have to be the most elaborate excuse to ever exist, though ultimately Jeremy silenced them from their futile attempts, though Thomas still tried regardless of that.

"What escapades?" Thomas asked in retort, still playing dumb though after he asked that he felt something grasping at his wrist, he turned around and saw Rae's hand, he looked up to her face and saw an expression upon it as if to say it was pointless to lie, something that Thomas noticed well and nodded at her, indicating his understanding, from there, Rae took over from him.

"How did you find out?" The girl asked, getting straight to the brunt of it instead of teetering around the edge of something that everybody present already knew about, she had been in a few situations like these, not with boys, but with people that so clearly wanted something in return, Rachel knew that they were being blackmailed.

"Well hello Rachel Hofstetter! So nice of you to finally speak after so long! How did I find out? Hm, that's a good question indeed! How did I find out? Well, to tell you that I'd have to take you back to that night, back to the night of the winter formal!" Jeremy spoke with a lot of enthusiasm as he spoke at Rae, not to her, at her, and then, he began his long explanation of the events.

"The night started like any other..."

[Flashback] 17th December 2009

Man! Jeremy sure was bummed that his best friend T couldn't make it tonight, it made his whole idea of going stag seem that much more pathetic, whereas before they were two people breaking the norms of the promenade by going as two male friends, it was now seen more as Jeremy going to the prom alone, all because he couldn't get a date to save his life, oh well, to say it didn't bother him in the slightest would've been a lie, but Jeremy had thick skin, and he always had those walls that he could put up so he'd never let anyone in, so all in all he's fine.
