Evan's POV—

"There you are," my bodyguard, Landon, says as I step off of the porch to my house. "You have to get going if you're going to catch your flight," he further tells me.

I'm going to Michigan today, and I'll be staying there for a while.

It's been a while since I was last there and, for the first time in a while, I have some down time. So I figured that going there to visit my family would be nice. It'll give us an opportunity to catch up and spend some time together.

Which is something I'm definitely going to look forward to.

Considering I don't really get to see them that often.

The past seven years since I decided to take Chrishell Roquette's offer have been... interesting, to say the least.

All the days spent in the studio, performing, touring...

It was everything that I had dreamed of.

Granted, there were plenty of days that were harder than others. Despite it being everything I had dreamed and hoped for, it was still a job. One that was very demanding and tended to be very draining.

But lately, things have been less hectic. Which, some down time is something I wasn't even all that aware I needed up until now.

"I know, I'm coming," is all I tell Landon as I walk past him and head for the car that's already pulled to the front of the house.

When we get to the airport, Landon takes me to a smaller entrance door compared to the main entrance into the airport—just so that I can avoid any lingering crowds and paparazzi because I wouldn't put it past them to somehow find out that I'm here and to try to get shots of me while being here at the airport.

That's something that took some getting used to the past few years: paparazzi.

And just in general, being in the spotlight—since I've never really liked cameras.

I'm pretty used to it now, though.

But there are still times when I would rather not deal with flashing cameras and screaming fans.

The second I step out of the vehicle, a few escorts quickly get me through the door—Landon following from behind with our suitcases.

Landon and I are taken to a lounge area once we're all checked in—which doesn't take that long because I went through a different and way shorter security line away from the public eye—a security check in station that's exclusively for VIPs of some sort. And within less than half an hour, we're driven to the aircraft and board the plane before and away from everyone else to further avoid the public.

"Can I get you guys anything?" the flight attendant asks Landon and me shortly after we take off.

"No, thank you, I'm fine," I respond to her.

"I'm good, too," is all Landon tells her. She then tells us to let her know if we need anything before she leaves.

"Whelp...I'm ready for a nap," Landon casually says as he leans his chair back a bit.

"Me too," is all I tell him before I do the same thing with my chair.

"Well look at that. Evan Carter in the flesh," Andre says the second I walk through the separate, private exit of the airport.

"Hey, it's been a while. How've you been?" I say with a smile on my face as I immediately walk towards him to give him a hug.

"Same as always. You family still like taking advantage of my driving services," he tells me, laughing a bit as he pulls away from me.
