Evan's POV—

"Mom!" Mathew says with so much excitement that it literally makes me sick to my stomach. Even more so then when it was her that walked in behind dad. Not wanting to look at her, I had looked down at my plate full of food and started pushing my sweet potatoes around my plate. But a chair being moved caught my attention again and I looked up to see Mathew getting up from his chair.

She opens her arms for him and he immediately races to her. I can only bite my lower lip as I notice just how hard he runs into her, almost knocking her off of her feet. He's acting like he hasn't seen her in forever. Which, for him, and adding the fact that he loves her and all, it probably felt like it.

I always forget that Mathew can be a little pest whenever she's around. Honestly, he becomes even more of a pest. It's like he forgets his own age sometimes and turns into this goody—to—shoes momma's boy or something.

That makes me even more sick.

"I missed you so much!" he says. I can practically hear that smile across his face as he holds onto her, hugging her tightly. She does the same.

"I missed you too, Matt. It's so nice to see you..." she says before she pulls back a little to look at him better. "Look at you. You've grown!" she says with equal amount of excitement that Mathew's showing.

I look around the table and just as I thought, Mathew's pretty much the only one who's happy to see her. That she's here. Jax has obviously tensed up at her arrival and Roxy's trying to ignore the fact that she's here by doing what I was doing earlier: pushing her food around her plate.

Let's face it.

We would prefer it if she hadn't come at all.

Say what you want, but it's our honest opinion.

"Are you eating dinner with us?" Matt asks, his excitement and smile across his face not diminishing at all. Chills run down my spine at the thought of sitting at the same table as her. I haven't sat at the same dinner table as her in years.

I haven't missed it one bit.

"Yup. I sure am." she says, making me groan inside my head. So I guess she's not leaving any time soon.

Great.

Just peachy.

I still can't peal my eyes off of her, even though I want to. I forgot just how much we share in common. The same dark hair and light green eyes.

Our similarities pretty much stops there.

She lifts her head up and looks over Mathew's head and immediately smiles even more as she looks over towards Jax. She gives one more smile to Mathew before she walks over to her eldest son. I quickly look over towards him and see him try to relax as he gets up to greet her.

"Hey mom." he says, forcing himself to smile. She pulls him in for one of her bone crushing hugs, one I'm sure I won't be getting. I'll be surprised if she even says more than 5 words to me.

Reluctantly, he hugs her back. The tight smile is still on his face when she pulls back and rests her hands on his shoulders. "Look at you...it's been a couple years since I've seen you...you're your own man now. All grown up." she says, beaming with joy as she takes him in.

Lucky.

He probably did everything he could to not see her and it worked out for a couple years.

Wish I could say the same.

"I heard you're working in the music industry, how's that going?" she asks him, wanting to keep the conversation going. He shrugs.

"It's going by well." he tells her, still forcing a smile. She smiles back like she didn't catch that it was forced at all.
