Ashley's POV—
Why, of all the days, does it have to be more on the chilly side tonight?
It's been warm every single day so far and on the one night I decide that I should finally go to a game and support Andy and cheer him on, the temperature drops down to the mid 50's. I honestly prefer my weather up in the 70's. Any time it goes below 65, literally, I'm freezing and have to go and grab some form of jacket to keep me warm.
I don't even know why I let Andy convince me to come tonight. I'm pretty sure he just wants to show off and prove to me how good he is at this sport.
But in all honesty, I have no idea how football works.
But hey. At least I'm here, supporting my boyfriend, even know I have no idea what's happening.
"Gotta give it to him, Andy's killing it tonight." Ben says as he sits back down from cheering at something that just happened. Don't get me wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm missing more than half of this.
One moment, everyone's watching the game like it's nothing and then something had to have happen because before I even know it, they'll all standing up and cheering like bats out of hell. And there I was, just sitting there looking completely lost as everyone cheers and only stood up to cheer because everyone else was doing it.
I'm horrible.
I should know more about the sport Andy plays.
But unfortunately...
Me and sports don't mix.
I'm clumsy as hell and would most likely find a way to trip. Even over nothing.
Air.
"Yup. He sure is," I say, trailing off, trying my best to sound like I know what's happening, even though I have no idea what is happening.
"You don't know how football works, do you?" Ben asks me, noticing my unease. I can only sigh and shake my head.
"Sorry," I mumble. He only laughs.
"Don't stress on it, Ash. Besides, Isabella doesn't understand it either and never wants to come to a game. So thanks for joining me, since everyone else I know is either on the team or didn't brother coming tonight," Ben says, mumbling under his breath near towards the end.
"I just kind of feel bad that I don't even know anything about the sport that Andy plays. If he was into basketball, baseball, or soccer, then I would know. But nope," I admit, feeling really defeated.
"Don't stress on it. Besides, they're winning so that's all that matters," Ben tells me.
Throughout the remainder of the game, all I can do is watch Andy and the rest of the football team and try to figure the game out more and more as it continues. I got kind of the just of it near towards the end and actually became excited when everyone else got excited from time to time because I was able to understand at least a bit of what was going on.
And by the time it was over, I felt a little accomplished.
Not much.
But a little.
At least they won.
"Want me to wait with you?" Ben asks me as we hang out outside the front of the school building. The game ended and now, I'm just waiting for Andy to come out.
"Nah, you can go if you want." I tell him.
"You guys going to the after party?" Ben asks me.
"Probably so. We'll see. If anything, Andy might really want to go, so I would count on us being there," I tell him.
